SCM:015 THE HEATWAVE – WAR DANCE
It’s out! The official release for The Heatwave and Serocee’s dancehall heater: Wardance. As well as the vocal and instrumental versions, the single also features three band spanking new remixes from the likes of Shakslayer & Top Billin, Mat Cant and Voltergeist.
Here’s the official words:
Scattermusic is proud to announce it’s 15th official release, a heavy-hitting bashment tune better known as ‘War Dance’ by London’s: Heatwave and Serocee. You may have heard this track already, ideally outdoors, in the sun and directly in front of a very large stack but despite becoming a staple of dancehall and bashment sets worldwide, War Dance was never officially released. Now Scattermusic and The Heatwave are working together to make amends, not only by properly releasing this certified heater, but also packing the single with some brand new remixes. First up Mat Cant trades the outdoor carnival vibes of the original for a heavier, basement ready workout. Sharkslayer & Top Billin then up the tempo while skillfully lacing the unruly vocals over a winding bassline and some expert synth chords. Thirdly Voltergeist, the winner of Scattermusic’s ‘Heatwave remix’ competition flips the mood completely for a dubbed out housey take.

SCM:014 Congo Tardis #1 – Number One
Scattermusic is proud to announce its 14th official release, a super heavy three track EP by Melbourne group Congo Tardis #1. Drawing on the genres which have dominated their DJ sets over the past few years such as Reggaeton, Dancehall, Kwaito, Shangaan Electro and more, Congo Tardis #1 bring together uplifting flavors from all over the globe to create something that’s truly unique. Steel drums ride the snap of cheap snares, carnival keys pulse over white noise sweeps, the vocals are fragmented yet the message is obvious, tune in your speaker, put the lime in the coconut, pump up the tweeter, don’t worry, it’ll make much more sense on the dancefloor.
The release also features appearances from three close friends. Marawa the Amazing, the worlds most incredible hula hoop performer (check this link if you don’t believe us) lends her vocal talents on Sweet Lime. MC Damaja, one of Melbourne’s finest dancehall MCs contributes the rather warped vocal hooks for the lead track Wild n’ Ready. Finally, musical extroadinare, relentless blogger, radio personality and all round good guy Faux Pas contributes with his remix of Doala, influenced by the ultra high tempos of African Shangaan music.

Now here’s the official words for the release
Scattermusic delivers its 13th official release, a super tight debut EP from Melbourne outfit Cumbia Cosmonauts. Emerging from somewhere in the distant reaches of the space/time continuum, the Cumbia Cosmonauts come with their signature blend of super heavy Afro-Colombian rhythms, bugged out accordion and sci-fi sweeps. This EP is a tribute to the world’s lesser-known space programs, where large budgets may be lacking but are more than compensated for with raw originality, courage and enthusiasm. Originally written whilst on a 16-date tour of Europe last summer, the Cumbia Cosmonauts production duo Soup and Saca La Mois DJ!! have tirelessly refined these tunes to deliver this EP of intergalactic proportions. Whether you call it Digital Cumbia or simply Tropical Bass, this is undoubtedly futurist folk music, perfect for not just your headphones, but also a packed club at 1am.

SCM-012 – Bosstone – Jova
Here’s a special pre-release exclusive for all our dedicated readers of our 12th release, ‘Jova’ from Melbourne producer Bosstone.
Bosstone, on his debut release unleashes 3 tough original’s. Elements of classic techno and house combine with marching percussion and his signature dense atmospheric sweeps, the result being both cinematic and very hype.
Kicking things off, the title tracks Jova features cascading, aggressive keys with sweeping synths that maintain relentless pressure. From there You switches things up considerably with spaced out RnB vocals and a haunting bell riff. The third original track, Carlton Banks quickly brings the energy back to peak time club vibes with heavy doses of bass and fragmented ragga shouts.
Melbourne duo 1 Fish, 2 Fish start the remixes off with their quirky yet deep re-rub of Jova. More versions of Jova follow with both Rampage & Nadar’s nod to the hardcore days of yesteryear and Sonido Rampage y Nadar’s super heavy cumbiaton remix. The package is rounded out with two versions of You, Mat Cant’s take featuring classic Chicago chord stabs and Chaos In The CBD’s deep house version, perfect for those epic late night DJ sets.
‘Jova’ officially launches digitally on June 28th, 2011 and will be available via I Tunes, Beatport, Turntablelab, Juno and Scattermusic’s own online store (which will launch late July!).
Plenty of support coming from Martelo, Roska, Malente, Crookers, Sampology, Jason Forrest, Moriarty, Neoteric, Willy Joy, DJ Krames and more.
SCM-011 Bin Juice Digital
We’re super proud to announce that earlier this week Scattermusic’s latest offering, the digital edition of Bin Juice was unleashed through download stores worldwide. It marks our label’s journey into double figured catalog numbers with a diverse selection of tracks from our growing family of artists. The aim was to provide a summary of the sounds we’ve pushed through our first 10 releases with flavours of cumbia, dancehall, techno, house, kuduro, funky, grime and 3ball. Don’t be thinking that this is simply a mish mash of tracks from our back catalog, every joint on here is previously unreleased because as much as it’s a reflection on the last 18 months, it’s also a taste of several exciting things we’ve got planned for the rest of 2011.
While this release officially makes the end of our free download approach, we just can’t help but give a little something away. Hit the download link below for a copy of Mat Cant’s Raw Riddim. It’s a dancefloor driven combination of UK funky drums with a rotten grimy bassline (there’s even a few little bmore chops thrown in for good measure).

SCM-010 – Sabbo – Modern Primitives
Release #10 marks a milestone in Scattermusic history. Gettin to 10 releases and still popping is one milestone – so a big thanks to everyone who’s supported our music through writing, buying, DJing, Twittering, trash talking and any other medium.
On top of that this will be one of our last free releases. The free thing has been great for our artists and us, especially since we were the first label to be completely free!
But as the market changes and we all change, the time has come to move from the all-free-medium.
To help the label keep running in the future we hope you continue to buy our releases through our Bandcamp page. We have a hugely exciting release schedule coming up, and if you’re a fifth as excited about it as us you’ll probably buy each release twice.

Scattermusic’s tenth official release showcases the production talents of Tel Aviv’s own Sabbo. Having released previously on respected labels such as Mad Decent, Generation Bass and Botanika he’s already gained a formidable reputation worldwide as a production powerhouse. While his recent Freakiton EP focused on the footwork movement that’s currently happening in Chicago, this release sees him turning his efforts to the musical styles of Mexico and Columbia. He delivers four originals of grinding syncopated percussion, squealing synth riffs and skillfully chopped vocals, all guaranteed to pressurize even the most reluctant dance floors. Remix duties are handled by Emynd (Philly USA) who adds the signature vocal stabs and drums form his home town and also DJ Orion (Austin USA) who pushes champion robot into psychedelic territories without losing any of it’s original dance floor drive.
Buy the release through Bandcamp, Juno, Beatport, Turntable Lab or from any good online retailer.

SCM009 – Tranter – Sax Fax
Scattermusic is proud to announce the labels ninth official release, ‘Sax Fax’ by melbourne based creative powerhouse Tranter. Musical Faux Pas combine with percussive house to create infectiously simple and at times slightly awkward club music where even the dysfunctional is nothing less than awesome. The EP opens with the collaboration between himself and Scattermusic’s own Slap & Dash titled Saxathone. A seriously bugged out saxophone loop and layers of jacking tropical percussion make this the perfect soundtrack to a very weird summer beach party. Next up Rotterdam’s Kid Kaio offers his take adding strong Bubblin’ and Baile Funk overtones to create a super tough club stomper. Tranters second outing on the release is ‘Boregasm’ where mellow bells lull you into to a false sense of calm before the whole melody flips into a stomping 8 bit riff. Rounding out the package is Darling Farah’s re-rub of ‘Boregasm’ where the grinding intensity of the original is replaced with lush, deep early morning nightclub vibes.
Download the release for free using the links below, otherwise if you feel like offering our label some monetary support you can grab it from Juno, Turntablelab, Beatport, I Tunes and other good online stores.

SCM-008 – Hector & Nate – Jomo EP
Cover art by The Cheap Assassin
Scattermusic is proud to announce the label’s eighth official release, ‘Jomo’ by Belgium based production duo Hector & Nate. Minimal house arrangements combine with stabs and chords taken from a time when techno was party music, creating three bouncy and spacious tracks destined for heavy play in the largest of clubs. In short this is music for big systems not laptop speakers. Opening the EP is the seriously bent title track ‘Jomo’ with it’s cascading percussion that’s already proven to cause ultimate chaos on the dancefloor. Second up ‘Habbekrats’ kicks off with infectious melodic vocal stabs and soon drops down into a driving bassline, somehow perfectly suited for those late night sets where everyone gets a little strange. Rounding out the package is ’Slurp’ with its sophisticated combination of rolling drums, stuttered chords and synthetic strings, proving just how diversely these guys can sonically represent the word fun.

SCM-007 – Mu-Gen – Fizzdom.
Cover art by Paz
Here we go, this is the real deal. We’ve all been super exited about this release here at the Scattermusic HQ for some time, from first hearing the hype and heavy original, to then having three amazing remixes come back from our extended family. Perhaps more than any of our previous releases, this baby sums up where our sound is at right now as a bunch of certified music nerds. Check the official press spiel below.
From the inner reaches of Scattermusic comes Mu-Gen, with his own distinctive brand of warped, percussive, distorted and slightly mad club music. After playing a pivotal role in the Melbourne club scene for the last fifteen years, playing festivals, touring abroad, running club nights, and contributing to numerous side projects, Fizzdom represents his first and well overdue solo release. The result, an unruly beast where marching snares collide with fragments of dancehall toasts, non-regulation lasers, mile-deep kick drums and atmospheric disturbances. Fizzdom is a lethal club weapon bound for packed and sweaty dance floors around the globe, having already gained support from respected DJ’s such as Dave Nada, Sinden and Neoteric.
Remix duties are correctly handled by Munchi (NTL) who slows down the tempo while turning up the heat to create a certified heavy moombahton thriller, Sam Tiba (FRA) who shifts things into a more slightly stable yet none the less freaky club stomper and Mexico’s Maria y José flips that whole deal into a grinding, psychedelic, cumbia rave anthem.

SCM-006 – Lewis CanCut – Neon Saxophone
Cover art by Paz
At the inner core of Scattermusic is Lewis CanCut with his clean cut, calipo / splice nature. Always perverting club tropical beats, layering bass like cake, flipping a sound library into a deep carnival crumpet. A flanged horn forms raspberry kisses, and a punch and kick resemble the crowd participation at the West Indian 2010 20/20 Cricket Finals. LCC is Melbourne’s Pizza slice of Cumbia’s and Carioca. His gumbo is titled Neon Saxophone. The fiesta can he heard in Get Low and Can of Drink both preaching club tropical, and the now revered Cumbia Theme adds to this chapter via respect to a traditional Cumbia rhythm. The whole project then gets a remix treatment via a huge Latin connection. Chico Ye gets Mexican and puts the tribal club touch to Get Low, the Netherland’s Sonido Del Principe drops cumbia club tropix over Can Of Drink, and Scattermusic newbie’s Cumbia Cosmonauts re-shake Cumbia Theme, knowing its full heritage, then sending it to Alpha Centauri. The package is 100% tempos for a tropical throw down, and is the essential club package from LCC and his cohorts.
