A Sweet Lime!

June 10th, 2010

This Saturday June 12th at The Croft Institute we’ll be doing an official release party for the Neon Saxophone EP. As you may know it’s already been available online for a little over a week now but hey, when it comes to setting a date for a sweet lime, we’re pretty relaxed. The night will feature non-stop royalty from the Scattermusic roster with both the mighty Cumbia Cosmonauts and Scattermusic Sound System featuring Mu Gen, Scattermish and Mat Cant. Not only that but we also have a super special guest set from the hustlers of all things tropical, Congo Taridis #1! Physical copies of the release will be available on the night with the first 20 sold getting a free A0 poster by Melbourne artist Paz. Fitting all this into the space of one club night means the the selection will be no doubt dense with all acts dropping the toughest, most hype worldly club jams. Oh, and of course I’ll also be throwing down a set for the release, incorporating a whole bag of edits, remixes and versions. Doors at 10.

Until then, lets have two super hot tropical club edits to get the feel right, firstly here’s Paris Tropical by Congo Tardis #1. More specifically speaking, the splice was done by Pharoah Zap, whose mysterious cuts continue to show up in clubs everywhere.

..and secondly we have this super rework by Ku Bo where he continues to turn all he touches to gold.

Shit Robot is the shit.

January 19th, 2010

Shitty ass robot

Shit Robot is like one of those ever elusive characters in dance music but maybe thats just due to a lack of online content, hard to tell sometimes you know. The history I remember hearing is that Marcus Lambkin (SR) originally worked in punk circles until James Murphy lent him a bunch of old drum machines and let him figure it out. While that’s probably fiction, it would explain the raw dancefloor sound sounds he’s become associated with over the years (rockers make notoriously great dj’s such as Edu-K and Dave Nada). It’d probably be more accurate for me to just say Marcus met James while running club nights in New York and well, the rest is DFA history. Wrong Galaxy, his first record going back a few years, blew minds with it’s mix of rough drums and loud arpeggiated synths but it was this remix of Kaoss Panopeeps that first put him on my radar (buy). If I had a nightclub based on a disused space station drifting through distant galaxies that’d be my soundtrack. Here’s a little something else he sent through for us to anticipation up his upcoming Scatterfest appearance. It’s his burning remix of ‘No Time’ by Juan Maclean, get it while it’s hot.

Shit Robot and others play at Scatterfest with full Scatterblog support, Saturday 30th of January here in Melbourne at the Esplanade Hotel. Tickets are just 20+bf and are available Espy online, from the Espy Bottle shop, Polyester Records, Missing Link and Northside Records.

OK so this is gonna be bananas!!! The new emperors of Thursday night debauchery HANGTIME, same dudes that have thrown mad parties of late presenting acts such as: La Roux, LMFAO, and Spinderella. Well, they have been way friggin nice and invited us, the infamous blog nerds and dance floor crushers SCATTERBLOG to deliver on some filth. This is going to be one mega fun co-lab, so come party-drink and dance with a fat chick this thursday at Ding Dong (addy above).

SET-TIMES
9-10: Dublin Aunts
10-11: Lewis Cancut
11-12: Mat Cant
12-1: Mu-Gen
1-close: Scattermish

I hear Dublin Aunts are gonna provide some freaky party disco shiz. We are gonna provide the ruckus via club, kuduro, funky, hip hop, grime and all things ghetto. I know Mat has made a cheeky edit of hip hop superstar Bangs he’s gonna drop, think Lewis will prob end up in hospital from some sort of tragic dagga incident, Scatters is most def gonna drink his weight in whiskey and well me,? I’m gonna spend the whole night rubbing myself as i just got a new velvet jumper.. POW!

Not gonna leave without giving up a track or two…… The Shaun-D joint is straight heat. First time I heard it I lost my shit, about a week later I was like “not sure”, then I lost my shit once more, so now I’m posting it before I think its “meh” again. It’s a bubbling-kuduro number with air horns, crazy synth and a dash of ze bula vox. Just download it! The Ghislain tune is hard arse dance hall-ragga. Wish I had more sets to play this kind of heat.
