I love this time of year, the weather starts to get warmer, the beers are flowing and it seems like every weekend we have another International guest in town to provide the soundtrack to our summer. This Friday I’ve got the chance to support the man behind the world famous Mad Decent label, Paul Devro and I’m pumped for it! Paul is coming out to Australia for the Diesel Xmas party at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney and word has it he is bringing Maluca out with him. Man, soo excited that this has come out! It marks our first official release, and the beginning of an empire, haha. It’s already been getting a bunch of plays on radio in the US, here, UK etc., and played by the likes of Sinden, Diplo, Neoteric, Ajax and Act Yo Age to name but a few.
As you’ve probably heard, we’re giving away all our releases for FREE! You’ll be able to grab every release here, on the blog as they’re released. Mat Cant and Scattermish are two names that are not shy to air horns, basslines, hype drums and parties. With Hornbo they’ve managed to incorporate all that into a dancefloor anthem that gets rowdy with a series of horn stabs, frenetic drums, drops and breakdowns.

The remixes come from Sticky K, who has flipped the tune into a big-room storm for the dance floor, Yacht Club who have weirded it out and made it even more hype, The Hump Day Project who have sent the bassline rolling and the guns shooting giving it a tech feel and Paz who has turned it into a 150bpm ghetto house bonanza!

A little over a month ago I had the pleasure of meeting Trouble & Bass Heavyweight AC Slater while he was in Melbourne. He was in Australia on tour and had a couple of spare days so we hung out, grabbed some lunch with Nick Thayer and we even went on a road trip to see some native Australian animals. While he was here we also spent a day in Nick’s Studio together making a sneaky little bootleg remix of the already huge Riton & Primary 1 tune “Who’s There?”. We spread it around to some DJs and rinsed it out in the club for a couple of weeks but now we have decided to get it out into the big bad world.

About a month ago i had the pleasure of going into the studio with Nick Thayer, producer extraordinaire and all round nice guy! We had talked about getting together for awhile to make a track and i was glad it finally happened, i picked up so much in the time i was with him and after a couple of days we had something completed. It is essentially a club version of Fatman Scoop’s Faith Evan’s sampling Chic sampling ‘Be Faithful‘, and i wont lie we were listening to alot of nadastrom before hand!

We have got a lot of love with this tune from local and international DJs and it has been doing damage to dance floors wherever i play it. Here is it tagged and serato ready, hope you enjoy it!

Honestly i can not wait for this Friday because two of my favourite events are coming together to throw one hell of a party! Sins On Sunday has been killing it for the past 6 months down in geelong and it just keeps getting bigger and better, there is nothing on a Sunday in Melbourne that comes close to this party! This Friday the Sins crew have joined up with The Late Show and are holding an All-stars night at mine and everyone’s favourite venue Revolver. The Late Show Fridays at Revolver lately have been amazing, its seems to be getting a lot of hype and anyone that was there for the Trevor Loveys gig a couple of weeks ago will know how much of a party it is. The All-stars include myself Mat Cant, 1 Fish Two Fish, Malakai and special guest late show superhero Nick Thayer. These dudes are my number 1’s, they make me strive to be better every time i play with them and i would do anything for them. One of the creators of Sins On Sunday and all round Dope Cat, Finn Whitla aka Malakai has been making some crazy music at the moment and he was kind enough to share some of his new heat in 320 goodness. Malakai was a techno DJ in another life and started throwing parties in Geelong/Torquay in 2002, all was going well but he then decided to have a break from it all. In 2005 Malakai was back after watching 2manydjs at the metro and got absolute inspiration from them. After this Malakai held down a residency at Eurotrash for about a year and has now been throwing parties again in the Geelong area for the last few years, including Sins on Sunday with his partner in crime Adrian Boorer. Malakai is now focused on DJing and production more than ever with the help of sins and the people involved and has been making music for about 2 years. Back in the day DJing was the main and only thing but now he likes being creative with other peoples creations, making music from music…

Next up is my brothers from seperate ponds, 1 Fish Two Fish. The Fishes, as they are commonly known, have been KILLING IT in the Geelong area for a long time now and its only a matter of time before they swim up the highway and start taking over Melbourne City. Ill leave it up to the Fish to tell you there story so here it is…

Having spent their past lives feeding on the ego’s of 80’s hair metal band members and coins from wishing wells, these chums took a liking to guns, painting portraits of cowboys and making people dance. They were unsuccessful when applying for gun licenses and as everybody knows, cowboys are extinct. They found that making people dance was a magnificent way to repent their sinful ways of old. So after spending countless months of self torture in a cold oubliette of noise, they emerged mentally distraught, malnourished and physically demented. Although now they were of higher knowledge and moral fiber. Suddenly they found themselves appearing regularly at the Club4Play backroom shindigs, Sins On Sunday Fortnightly Extravaganzas and various other festivities, sharing the booth of doom with distinguished party starters such as Cajuan (Germany), Bang Gang Deejays, Acid Jacks, Ajax, Bagraiders, T-Rek, Act yo Age, Phrase, Van She Tech, DJ Falcon (France), The Rapture (US) and even world renowned movie/TV/Rap star Xzibit to name a small few. With plans for world dominatrixxx and plenty more light-years spent in the stew-dee-oh, keep yours ears, eyes and other orifices peeled for this amazing talent known as the one, the two….. 1 Fish, Two Fish.

The Fish also have an EP coming out sometime this or next week on beatport through Acid Jacks Label Idiot House. The EP will include two original tracks Margarita Face & Owed To Earl with remixes by Breakdown, Jackmaster, Scatterblogs own Paz & Harmon, Machette and quite possibly more.

Recently I’ve discovered female MC Shystie from LDN and im feeling it big time. After a bit of research i quickly found out that MCing isnt the only thing Shystie is known for, she featured on the computer game ‘Juiced‘ on PS2 and Xbox and also fronted her own interactive TV series called ‘Dubplate Drama‘ On MTV. I first heard her track Nu Style (2009 Deekline & Ed Solo Mix) and i loved it but it wasn’t until i picked up this track that she did with Sub Zero that i really paid attention. Bassline is killing it for me at the moment and this has to be one of my favourite bassline tracks I’ve heard in awhile! Keep a look out for her new album to be released late 2009…

Well for anyone who was there thank you, for the people that were not, you missed out big time. Last Saturday was pretty much one of the most rad gigs I have ever been a part of.

The party started at around ten with Lewis Cancut (aka Bobby Sock Girl) opening things up. The little fella walked out, threw his hands in the air, yelled some abuse at the crowd, then proceeded to play one crazy as fuck world/hip hop set. I play at the ESPY a lot and have never seen that many people getting down to the first dj, pretty much as soon as he started. Kudos Lewis, Kudos.

The venue just kept filling up more and more as Mat Cant & Paz hyped the dance floor. Both dudes know how to kill a party (in the good sense of the word). Mat was on his b’more, party town vibe making people sweat, whilst Paz tore up the world/club joints to a salivating crowd. I have never had so many people ask me “what’s that track?” before, as they did when Paz was doing his thing.

Next up was Scattermish and I (Mu-Gen) doing the Slap & Dash thing. By this stage the ESPY was full at a little over 1000 people. We have been working on this 4 deck mash up set for about 8 months now and have just recently updated it. It was pretty much the first time we have nailed it from start to finish (soooo chuffed). Which ain’t easy to do when you mix around 130 joints in about 60 min’s. For the last 15 min’s of the Slap & Dash set Angie & Keaton Bale from Digital Manges hit the mic’s…… EPIC……. This is where shit hit boiling point. I don’t think anyone expected a debut performance like that. Manges Rule. The show was stepped up a notch at this point with our good friend, and booty dancer extrodanair Zoe, who killed it on the stage during the Manges set (you can see just how hard she is working in the pic underneath). It’s always nice when you walk off the stage and you have someone like Edu K say “Whoa, I ain’t seen anything like that in 5yrs..”

Which brings us to the final act, EDU K. What happens when you add an out of control wild crowd with a bat shit crazy Brazilian? Toooo much fun that’s what. Edu K is the bomb. He was punching the air, rolling round on the ground playing air guitar, letting women from the audience scratch the decks with their titties. Anything to make the party wild. The dude played a pretty heavy fidget/zombie rave set that was making people get stoopid. Def the highlight of my night was when Hunt from 1fish 2 fish fame attempted a stage dive to no success. SPLAT.

Again thanks to the 1000 or so people that turned up to support us on this one. Believe me, we have many more parties planned for the near future. And if the first two parties are anything to go by, they are only gonna keep getting bigger, better and more wild.

Well time is nearly nigh and a barrage of gutter hype is about to be unleashed on an unsuspecting world. I don’t want to say much in this post cause I’m pretty sure the man and the brains (Scattermish) behind this new endeavour has something all meaningful and shit to say to you all about what is actually going on here.

All I’m writing about, as I get all proud and stuff, is to let you guys know about the new Scatterblog Music Myspace that has just been created by Mat Cant. It gives you a preview of some of the new joints to be released on our Real Music For Hustlers LP. We are trying to be completely self sufficient here these days, with Paz doing the art, and Scatters on one of the most tight masters no money can buy.

Everyone here has contributed in every way possible and I just wanna say it’s been a mad massive pleasure. Big ups and thank you to everyone involved, especially Scattermish.

Now what kind of low life would I be if i didn’t give you something to make you wanna dance… Not off the album I’m talking about, but right on point with my own deff of gutter hype. This is my first of many posts to come on the blog but some of you might remember my name from the Mixburn Mix i did back in September 08. Ive recently started working with the scatterblog helping out with parties and now ive joined the blog team to throw some heat in ya faces. Shout outs to my boys 1fishtwofish, malakai and capslock

It was really unfortunate that Detboi cancelled his tour down under, word is that he might try again in the new year. The good news though is that we can headline Slap and Dash, the 4 Deck mash up between Scattrmish and Mu Gen. The Late Show is my regular every Saturday and I will be filling out the yards after my fellow scatterbloggers, and the now Melbournite Matt Cant is with us before hand, as well as Team Opulent. Slap and Dash rip together all the genres that the Scatterblog boasts, but there is exceptional talent putting it toghether. You will hear Slap and Dash on a regular basis at Revs and I know how hard they work at getting the sound tight, because they promised me a remix before December but they have been too busy… Anyway we will rinse out the front room, and the backroom takes on Chi town house legend Rahaan with all the Late Show regulars.

The Scattermish remix of RHYS – HOT SUMMER (in a previous post) is a serious contender for 40 rewinds on Saturday night and the whole of this summer, so says Zebra magazine. Get it below before blogger or the majors rip it down.
