OK so this is gonna be bananas!!! The new emperors of Thursday night debauchery HANGTIME, same dudes that have thrown mad parties of late presenting acts such as: La Roux, LMFAO, and Spinderella. Well, they have been way friggin nice and invited us, the infamous blog nerds and dance floor crushers SCATTERBLOG to deliver on some filth. This is going to be one mega fun co-lab, so come party-drink and dance with a fat chick this thursday at Ding Dong (addy above).
SET-TIMES
9-10: Dublin Aunts
10-11: Lewis Cancut
11-12: Mat Cant
12-1: Mu-Gen
1-close: Scattermish
I hear Dublin Aunts are gonna provide some freaky party disco shiz. We are gonna provide the ruckus via club, kuduro, funky, hip hop, grime and all things ghetto. I know Mat has made a cheeky edit of hip hop superstar Bangs he’s gonna drop, think Lewis will prob end up in hospital from some sort of tragic dagga incident, Scatters is most def gonna drink his weight in whiskey and well me,? I’m gonna spend the whole night rubbing myself as i just got a new velvet jumper.. POW!
Not gonna leave without giving up a track or two…… The Shaun-D joint is straight heat. First time I heard it I lost my shit, about a week later I was like “not sure”, then I lost my shit once more, so now I’m posting it before I think its “meh” again. It’s a bubbling-kuduro number with air horns, crazy synth and a dash of ze bula vox. Just download it! The Ghislain tune is hard arse dance hall-ragga. Wish I had more sets to play this kind of heat.

To be honest, I struggle to get exited about full length albums because so often there will be 3 or 4 great tracks and then a whole bunch of filler where the artist tries to demonstrate how overly eclectic there production skills are. Having got that off my chest though, when I do get exited about an upcoming album its like a kid counting the sleeps before christmas. Now not to say that the Major Lazer project needs another person hyping it up but we’re talking about auto-tuned babies, Nora Dean samples, air horns, surf guitar and of course and truckload of lasers. If non of that sounds remotely fun then your probably beyond the help of modern medicine.
Getting to the point of this post though, last night in the club I caught Mu-Gen mashing together Hold the Line by Major Laser and Wha-La-La-Leng by Poirier which just struck me as one of those happy, nerdy coincidences given that an official version of the mash had turned up in my mail the day before. The remix is blazing, with Ghislain laying down his current soca sound. Check out his web page which also has his Soca Sound System mini mix as a free download or pick up his ep out through Ninja Tune.

Well in the past week I have gone a little mad sorting, loading, cue-pointing and all sorts of digital crap to a whole lot of new tunes. It’s kinda driving me nuts but at the same time makes me excited like a kid with something new to play with. Not going to say much after the giant xrabit post, except these tunes are all new from the “digital sort out” and all rad for totally different reasons.
The first is a Filthy Dukes track remixed by Si Young of Plastic Little fame. I love the whole Plastic Little crew’s vibe and this track ain’t no let down. I would just like to say to them “hurry up and finish the new album”.
The next one is from a new artist to me, An-Ten-Nae. I just brought his Acid Crunk Pt 2 Ep online the other week. His stuff seems to be on the world/dub tip but this one is a nice little hip hop burner remixed by one my favourites Ghislain Poirier & Face T. Check it out and buy the album from Juno its niiiiice.
And saving the best for last is the dopeness that is Buraka Som Sistema. One of the hits from the album is “Sound Of Kuduro” featuring a whole cast of goodness with Dj Znobia, M.I.A, Saborasa & Puto Prata. This remix is brought to you by Lil John. Not the one who wears grills and shouts “Yeaah” but the dude from Buraka itself.

Harmon is this Melbourne producer who has bumped out many styles of club and feel good music. His latest E.P titled “Don’t Even Try” is an amazing Punk/ Hype / Electro / Club killer that will be put into high rotation somewhere. Find it on beatport, listen for the punkless remix if you want it more club, and if you are into cosmic / italo/ appregio vibes listen to “Wrong train to Florence” all very tight. Anyways this is my ‘P-A-Z Jit’ remix of Dont Even Try.
The new Ghislain Poirier album ‘No Ground Under’ on Ninja Tunes is great, I got sent the promo and there is a lot of Soca influenced stuff on there that is getting an electro work out. I decided to post one of the more uptempo tracks with rasta MC Zulu. It is similar to the stuff that South Rukkas Crew are releasing.
I got sent a remix of a great Yo Majesty track called Pony Girl. They are a mad bunch af girls and get their grind on over this bashy beat.

What’s with the title? i dunno. I havn’t posted many tracks lately, so now that’ll change with a few bits of hottness i’ve been getting into.
First up is some
Zeph & Azeem. I bought this on vinyl cause i was told it only had limited vinyl release and that was all they were releasing. The statement sounded a bit strange cause that’s not really done anymore, unless it’s like something that comes with a magazine, or is some sorta special hyped promo, everything gets released as an mp3 as well if they do limited vinyl. Otherwise they just wouldn’t make any money. Anyway turns out i was right, and this release has
popped up on beatport. Also the main track is being offered as an OM Records promo thru beatport’s VIP track promo system thing. The track’s pretty cool.
Zeph has put out a lot of tastey beats. When his
Sunset Scavenger record came out i was playing it at like every gig i played. My style has changed a lot since then, but i really should record it and start playing some tracks from it again.
Azeem also featured on that album as well. He was fresh then, he’s fresh now.
The next track is the best new bit of hotness from one of my favs,
Gislain Poirier. It’s from the latest
Bassnectar single (with other remixes by
Magik Johnson and
Daz-I-Kue [
Bugz in the Attic]). The Ghislain one tho is definately the bomb. I really love his sound, it’s really individual, and truely his own. It definately sounds like there are big influences from Dancehall and Dub sound systema’s and there’s definately a big industrial sound going on. He always has a really interesting use of drums, and some sersious bass. Head over to
beatport to get a phat better quality version, or over to
DJ Download.
The next track i’ve just had lying around for a bit. I just really like listening to this piece of evolve. I’m sure it’d be fun to play somewhere, prolly a bit too hard on the minimal tip for my sets though. I don’t really know anything about
Markus Lange and
Daniel Dexter, but this song is cool. It just keeps building and building, but is interesting the whole way through. It’s off the
Shooting Tigers single over at Beatport. Also got this one as a promo.
In other news i can’t find this track anywhere, and i want a good quality version of the track, cause it’s fucken pumpin!
Loose Cannons did too good of a job on this remix. From all the sites i’ve looked at the remix ain’t yet available, i dunno maybe it hasn’t been released yet. The original is pretty cool too, but not nearly as good as the remix. Good too see
Yo Majesty branching out tho, this
Ben Mono guy seems alright. Thanks to
Guilty As Pleasure for the link.

Serial this guy seems to be well into his prime. My favorite releases have been some of his recent ones for sure. He manages to capture this mad industrial party hip hop sound that satisfies heads and dancefloors alike. I play out a bunch of tunes from His Bounce Le Gros remix album Vol.1, and just bought his Vol.2 today, and listened to a preview track remixing Juelz Santana.
He also does cool DJ sets, and has been Lady Sov’s tour DJ for a while too.
What you can do is head over to his
myspace and scroll down to find the Add To Cart option for Bounce Le Gros Vol.2. It’s only $13 Canadian including shipping, which is only like $14 in oz terms, and even less in USD, so it’s worth picking up.
Here’s the first track of the album. It’s the Juelz remix. It’s got some trippy timing and some fresh bounce for sure.
(also word is is that he has the “real” album in the works)
