Crack House

November 4th, 2009

So this is my first post on the new site and im going to give some love to a producer who i can’t get enough of at the moment, DJ Zinc. Ive been meaning to write a post on DJ Zinc for awhile now and when Zinc’s people at Bingo Bass contacted us recently it felt like the perfect time to do it.

The last few months i have been playing so much of his music and his new “Crack House EP” is up there as one of my favourite releases of the year with great guest appearances from Benga, Sweetie Irie, Angela Hunte and No Lay. It has been getting regular radio and club play from A-trak, Diplo, Brodinski (included one track on his Bugged Out comp) Skream, Fake Blood (included 1 track on radio 1 essential mix), Annie Mac etc. (Annie played 4 tracks from this EP on her radio 1 show) plus loads more.

I highly recommends you pick up this EP – all ten tracks are worth your money – from Beatport or Itunes

Here are two of the more popular tracks from the EP for download in 320 goodness thanks to the great people at Bingo Bass

DJ Zinc – 128 Trek (mediafire) (zshare)

DJ Zinc – Blunt Edge (mediafire) (zshare)

BONUS - Here is a 5 minute mixup of the whole EP

March 19th, 2007

Dang i ain’t posted here in like a week, like omg lolz 1337 imo. Been meaning to, but i been busy with assignments and work and such things like that that must be done. Got some good news on the beats fronts, and am making and recording some new stuff for different projects, hopefully it all turns out well, i’ll post more info in the future.
I don’t really have much to say though this post, it’s just another post, in fact it’s post #353, and as far as i know there ain’t much significant about that. Anyway check a mad classic DJ Zinc pump up track. I’ve worked out a really nice mash of this with Santogold‘s Creator, which is nice and active, but you’ll need to see me live to cop that, i may put it on my upcoming mix tape that keeps getting pushed further and further back…

I did have a pretty mad weekend though. Got a late call up to play at the Croft on friday night which was kinda chill, then played pretty good set at a mad gig at Loop in the city. Was a show that gave me new found hope in the funk/hip hop night which just seems to be so played out. But this night seriously had a good twist. There was an awesome party vibe the whole night long, everyone playing had mad skills, some ill scratches included, there was also some live MCing and beats by Psyde Projects (who are D-Fro and Ilresponse). Sketchenry and Moonshine also played. There was also Mickeydubwiser doing some mad VJing all night long. So like fa’rizzle ma’dizzle i was well impressed and will go again, me and Deltoid should work out a 4 deck set for there. Oh yeh i forgot to mention they got 4 decks that get used… at the same time… da da daaaa… What is of importance though is that they didn’t feel the need to get too cheesy, even though they got such lovely cheesy promotion, they kinda chucked some cheese tracks in, and some trippy classics, but it’s was all done in a way that made you not feel like leaving. It wasn’t like they were the same tracks you here at every funk hip hop night that makes you remember that you’ve heard all these tracks 100 times before, mixed in much the same way.

Anyway if you’re round come check me out at DJs Ain’t Rockstars on saturday. I’m doin the warm-up shift this time from 9-12 so yea, here’s the flyer, hmm i might put the picture down low cause it’s colourful and has my name onit. Hopefully this gig turns out to be a regular, i like it…
In other news check out Juiceboxxx goin crazy live. I really hope he can bring all that energy to his studio work too, cause it looks like too much fun live. I ain’t found it in many recordings yet, but i’m sure he’s got it in him. Hopefully the fact that he’s got a whole lotta awesome working with him now to in the name of Dre Skull.
