I just wanted to quickly post this because we are super proud of it, Crookers played the Sticky K Remix of Hornbo at the recent I LOVE TECHNO party in Belgium and we just want to say a HUGE THANKS to them for there support. Big ups go to Sticky K too for turning our track into a monster, he deserves all the praise he can get…

Act Yo Age – Night Of The Hornheadz (Sticky K Remix) (zshare) (alt link)

It’s weird, i’m getting tired of all the blips and blops and whoop whoops in songs, just as much as i am getting completely obsessed and overtaken by them (3:30).

So, this remix of the Crookers effort on the Funk Mundial series by Rene Kuppens has totally shot up to my favorite track of the month. The drums are so huge and remind me of a brazilian drumming group – then the track gets so twisted with that laugh hook. Been playing it like every set – kinda hard to get a really crazy response for it by everyone all the time, but mixed right it jaaammms.
Totally stole this tune from the Beatjunks blog (best blog source for dutch house that i’ve found).

Crookers – Funk Mundial (Rene Kuppens LOL Remix)

Ralvero is another dude who just kinda jumped up outta nowhere – as so many of these artists are for me. This remix of De Bos (grab release hereFunkovic mix is dope too) is my favourite of his, and it’s just pure dancefloor hype – sharp drums, white noise, pulling and pushing kik, plenty of blips n blops and a corny vocal about doing something dancefloor related.

STICKY K FOR ALL

May 11th, 2009

Let me introduce you to Rod Kashani, a 21 year old producer from California who goes by the name of STICKY K. This guy has been killing it for me lately and with his debut EP signed to Dubsided records he’s got a bright future ahead of him. His Bandari Funk EP is a straight up party banger, bass heavy egg on your face shit that i just cant get enough of at the moment. Sticky K has plenty of remixes out there on many other blogs but its his original tracks that really show off his production skills and make you sit up and pay attention, especially his track called “The Wierdo” that is now available to stream on his myspace page. Look out for Sticky K doing a guest Mix on Kissy Sell Out’s BBC Radio 1 show in the future with promises of new original tracks and remixes of artists Larry Tee, Maluca and Diplo. Sticky K has also been an absolute dude and found time to remix mine and scattermish’s track ‘Hornbo’ that will be getting released through the blog very soon, head to the scatterblog myspace to check it out! Head over to Beatport or Juno and purchase his great Bandari Funk EP and play it loud!

We have a super special sticky EXCLUSIVE for you all to get down to as well as his crookers remix that is always a winner, enjoy...

INTRODUCING…

January 23rd, 2009

Yo,
Mat Cant signing in for Scatterblog duties…

This is my first of many posts to come on the blog but some of you might remember my name from the Mixburn Mix i did back in September 08. Ive recently started working with the scatterblog helping out with parties and now ive joined the blog team to throw some heat in ya faces. Ill keep it short and sweet today and post up a couple of my own re-edits that ive kept tight, they are have been a staple in alot of my sets over the years but i thought what better time to finally share them than now.

Crookers – Big Money Comin (Mat Cant Philly 2 Bmore Edit) (zshare) (alt link)

Malente & Dex – Hyperactive (Mat Cant Goes To Work Edit) (links removed by request)

Emynd – Smalltown Chavy Boy (Mat Cant’s Fancy Footwork Edit) (zshare) (alt link)

Enjoy!

Shout outs to my boys 1fishtwofish, malakai and capslock

These are just some fun tunes i found in the last couple of days. A new gem from a definate scatterblog favorite, Bird Peterson up first. I was played this track the other night at revs (show was dope btw, big party) by our boy Mat, and have started nagging him for it. It’s kinda a classic bird tune, but then again completely different to what his tunes sound like. It’s real synthy, but on the higher end, it’s a bit glitch, has some signature claps, kicks and vocal chops, and is a big bit of fun – def a kinda hard bugged out thing for freaky clubbers – and it sounds that much better when played out.

Bird Peterson – Shooked (alt link)

The other one is a take on the infamous Crookers remix of Kid Cudi, which i still here played all over. Agent X takes a bassline tamper on this, by flipping the bass and drums, but keeping all the same notes. I think this’ll be my flip trip to use for this tune as the crookers one, although a gem, is a bit too played out by now ;/

The Salmon Dance

August 17th, 2007

The Salmon Dance single by the Chemical Brothers feat Fatlip (of Pharcyde fame) is due to be released September 10th, there’s absolutely shit hot remixes by The Crookers and Herve which you can preview on their Myspaces. The best song off the album, i’m sure the single is gonna be one of my favorite releases of the year. It’s old now, but why not check out the original if you havn’t already.

The Chemical Brothers ft Fatlip – The Salmon Dance (alt link)

In other news of awesome, check out Detboi’s new remix of Full Phat, available at Juno thru On The Brink Recordings. Real mad mad banga-langa. Also got the chance to hear some of his new stuff which is sounding shit hot, look out for this kid he’s blowing up!

Oh also, the radio show i do on Syn with DJ Deltoid is now on friday nights, 8-9 melbourne time. Here’s the link if ya wanna tune in on the net, otherwise FM 90.7

3 is a crowd

July 16th, 2007

Got this lil bit of heat recently, coming from 3 Is A Crowd’s DJ Froz. It’s a nice little figeted club edit of the Crookers track Nchlinez ft Dargen D’Amico, who raps with Phra (apparently the rap is about Phra invitiv D’Amico out to a party to rap with the crookers. D’Amico is all cool and about to leave but then he feels uncomfortable cause he hasn’t freestyled in a while and thinks other can will beat him in a battle).
The track is really cool, and will fit into my house-hop kinda sets. It’s originally off the Crookers Mix Tape. Froz has made it fit for DJs and extended it a bit and added his own little touch of fidgety goodness for the edit.

Also if you’re looking for any new Crookers releases, a couple have just come out. There’s their remix for Diabolico Coupé which you order with PayPal over at this lavorare myspace page (i’m hoping my copy gets here by the weekend). Also that remix of The Cat by Dusty Kid, which has been on their myspace for a while is now available, but i think only thru beatport atm.

Crookers ft. Dargen D’Amico – Nchlinez (DJ Froz Mad Edit) (alt link)

Also one other bit of grande news is that Clark Able has been released on On The Brink already! It’s got the track I Wanna which we got a sneak peak at earlier on in the year, in as a lesser quality version (it was like radio quality @ 96k mp3, so do ya self a favour!). It’s also got that awesome track My Last Charter plus a new one which is on Derek Wrong’s myspace, Change It. As with all On The Brink Releases, it’s available as download only through Juno Download.

On The Brink @ Juno

Just a note that this is now live and there are tracks up (remember i mentioned the releases they got coming out here?). Just a bit over a pound a track, serious tell me we don’t all need this crooked to play track::

Crookers Crooked To Play (Juno Preview)

You can lick my Limonare

May 25th, 2007

Limonare is growing on me i must say. At first i was a little bit iffy on the rapper, but hell those cut-up style repetative lyrics and that crunchy Crookers sound is helping push me past my doubts. I can’t wait to see what happens with this project, hopefully it stays as dirty as it is in this first track. I guess if i were to try and describe what the project is like from this track, it kinda makes me think of a mesh of baile funk (some lady-like screeming vocals), justice (all that crunch and distortion) and the crookers (that role baby, that flow), with some rapping on top, so that can’t be bad.
I think Stylophonic is also involved btw, maybe he’s rhyming?
Check out the video below, i also found what seems to be a really early version of the track, cause the vocals sound different and it’s not as good as the version in the video.
Also take a peek at the video of it happening live.
This should be out soon on P-House Recordings i’m expecting…

These things are just too good. Man recordings is seriously bringing the pain with their funk mudial series. There’s been a DJ Sanny Pitbull version, a Sinden and Count Of Monte Cristal version, which was off charts, and now are spilling more serious heat with a version from the scattermish bloooog loved Crookers.
So far Tamborzuda and Soca Para do Ali Baba are up there as some of my favorite club bangers, like i’m playing them at almost every gig i play.
Anyway not only are you getting worded up on the release in this post, Man Recordings has sent me an exclusive of one of the tracks for your listening pleasure in the form of the MC Leka track. Did i hear some gun-shots going off in the background? On top of that they’ve given me the ok to post a mash that i’ve been doing out live a bit recently.
The release is due out June 11th as a special limited (only 300 pressings) release green vinyl, which you’ll be able to order straight thru the Man Recordings website. On top of that the tracks will be available to download from iTunes and Beatport later this month of May (grab it from beatport though for better quality).
These versions posted arn’t at the greatest quality, so do yourselves and your speakers a favour and buy the release, which also comes with acappellas and another great crookers track, Atomic Baile Boy (which you can listen to at their myspace). I’m for real excited about this release, they don’t come much better. DJs stand up!
ALSO look out on the blog this week and next as i’ve got some more shit hot exclusives coming our way from the Dead Soul Brothers and Clark Able!!
i really like the concept behind this::
Since it’s inception in November 2006, the Man Recordings series Funk Mundial has pushed the boundaries of what is called „Brazilian Music“. The tracks by Stereotyp feat. EDU K + Joyce Muniz (Man 010) as well as Sinden+Count Of Monte Cristal feat. MC Thiaguinho (Man 013) illustrated that club music inspired by Brazilian music elements doesn’t necessarily have to feature a samba beat or a bossa nova reference to bring European, Japanese or North American dancefloors to the boil. Rather the opposite: The series is not about an emulation of Rio’s hillside beats + bass culture but aims to establish a new hybrid musical form. It uses baile funk both as an energy as well as lyrical blueprint to develop a unique new style: The Funk Mundial style.

Aguas de Parco

April 16th, 2007

Remember that mad arse Crookers tune that was posted on the mad decent blog a lil while back? aye, it was off teh hook and it got me hooked on crookers, along with a lotta other people.
The tune has now been properly released which means we can buy it at high quality.
Go to the digital-tunes.net site cause you can actually get it good quality rather than having to put up with the myspace worthy crap that itunes feeds you.
Buy the single here. (includes a DJ Pandai remix and the track Brookah and you can download uncompressed .flac files as well as high qual mp3s)
LOOK OUT for their release Funk Mundial #3 coming out on Man Recordings, Soca Para do Ali Baba will blow you away for real.
for now check out aguas de parco in low qual as posted at mad decent:

Para Jule

February 25th, 2007

Basically the way the name scattermish came about, was with Para Jule, and OJ Rasta. Basically we were being trash bags back in high school days, and we decided to make pokemon names for each other. Para Jule was an obvious one for Julian cause he was a paranoid bastard, he’d do this funny thing were if you touched him on the back he’d spin around really quick with a raised fist behind his head and a crazy look in his eyes… was great fun when the principal once tapped his shoulder. OJ Rasta ain’t really all that Pokemonish, but it kinda is as well i reckon, it fits pretty well anyway. Then Jules came up with scattermish for me, because, as you all should know by now, i’m a scattered bastard. We had some special moves and stuff, one of mine was brush fire cause i used to have this mass of curly hair (and dreads at one stage… now i’m a balded eagle), anyway the deal was i could shoot fire outta my hair, great fun… I think i could scatter peoples minds and stuff too, and Para Jule could freak people out by sending bad brain waves.
I spose we should have really been doing all this stuff in primary school rather than high school, but hell, i’d enjoy an episode of Telly Tubbies right now damnit!
Ok so all this brings me to a song for a day, by none other than Para One, and a mad arse track from his album Epiphanie, which i must say i’ve slept on way too much. Or rather i’ve just listened to dundun-dun on repeat (check out the video which has a lot of pretty girls pilow fighting) and ain’t really checked out much else of the album. It’s weird, the albums really good, except as a club banger, you’d need the right crowd for a lot of the tracks as they’re kinda out there and glitchy, but with that said, listening to them all propperly, they could fit in really nicely to a set.
I found a new favorite track off the album though, the destroyed drums and transforming bass caught me quickly, and the beat just keeps getting cooler. I think it’s time for electro husters to start rolling:
Oh and before i post the track, i found a nice blog ad in his comments that does clothing and music, check it: T.E.C.H.N.I.-C.O.L.O.R blog. Oh and while you’re at checking all these extra links, this is some mad new graffing shit. Oh and Slutty Fringe posted some more crookers heat, man i love fidget house bass. Oh and you know how i’ve been ranting about Santogold, seriously, hype hype hype!! Well palmsoutsounds blog, which i really havn’t checked enuf lately (like almost all the blogs i read) managed to post up a version of creator, which is produced by switch and freq nasty, who’s obviously back on the scene ;) go grab it! and get ready to support.
I’m all about accessorising, so why not cop a bonus of a newish paraone remix of Bloc Party‘s single The Prayer:

AKA Ghetto P-Funk Rave Baile Hip-House AKA Bot and Phra (serial click their names to check out their solo stuff too, it’s bumping (p.s. bot also graffs (also here’s a bot release through juno: link)))
Seriously i’ve decided that these guys are the best thing out there atm. Like i’m becoming stupidly obsessed. Each set i play i wanna play like every track of theirs that i own. I only started getting into these guys recently when Devro put up some tracks at Mad Decent. I’ve had that Bossy remix they did for ages, but hadn’t been able to find anymore of their stuff (seriously can some1 point me in the direction already, like they haveta have some stuff released somewhere yeh? the pay sites i’ve tried so far are being shit). They’re apparently working on heaps of remixes for Italian artists atm (they’re also italian), so hopefully they’re released outside of Italy, or at least we might be able to buy them off their myspace. They do have a mixtape out hosted by Rido MC which i can’t find a link too, but i think you can buy it off them if you send em an email at crookers@gmail.com. They also have that Made In Italy EP due out in Feb, which is only a few days away!
P.S. check their latest myspace track they put up (massive).

Anyway this is a mix they did in ’06 that is absolutely killer (listen out for the madlib tippin remix at 04:11). It goes through a bunch of remixes and tracks of theirs, and some of other peoples too. My only worry is that lots of these remixes probably never see the light of day, they’re probably things you only hear on certain mixtapes or at certain live sets, that only certain people have access to. Damn i wanna see these guys live, i’m getting more and more annoyed at the fact that i’m not gonna get to europe/americas for at least another year.

Crookers – DJ Set 6/06 (this is that shit)

Also check out a production sampler they did in ’06.

Crookers – Production Sampler

Also you heard their Slutty Fringe mix right?

Crookers – Slutty Fringe Mix

Re-Crooked

January 11th, 2007

Man these guys are just way too off the hook right now. I’d heard their kelis bossy remix a while back, which was hell fun. Just the other day though found a couple of their tracks over at the mad decent blog. They managed to sample and well fuck up this track by Corinne Bailey Rae called like a star, which i’d heard a while back and thought it needed something done with it, but didn’t expect anything like this. Also the other track posted is like my favorite track of 2007 so far, even if it may have been made in 2006. Check the original of like a star and then check how they made it just ghetto.
Go be friends with them at their myspace. Don’t forget to grab their Made in Italy EP when it drops in Feb through On The Brink Recordings.
You can also grab a set they did for slutty fringe here. (i’m listening to it now and it’s pretty sick!)
