DirtyBeats…

The EP is soooo ready to drop, we’re just waiting on the distro turnaround. (For the full blurb and tracklist click here, or on the image at the side of the blog). There’s definitely a level of excitement that has been floating around the Scatterblog camp surrounding this release. Every remix and original has really surprised and amazed us, and we feel like we’ve really raised the bar another step higher. From DirtyBeats’ percussive, enormous House tunes to the French Fries Minimal journey, the hype as fuck Tom Piper mix, the Tropical party vibes of Swick’s remix or the Ghetto Hip Hop bang that is Slap & Dash’s remix.

Before all that happens tho, check some tunes they’ve made recently…

The first tune is their remix of Crimen’s “Bass & Diamonds” featuring Fresh Girls which is a more on a sorta 80s Miami Bass remixed 2010 kinda tip than their usual style. However the sound is still all there – the big bass, the blips the percussion, the dirty beats…

Crimen – Bass & Diamonds Ft. Fresh Girls (DirtyBeats Remix)

The other tune is a lil bit older, their remix of Kohlbecker & Eilmes’ “Tabasco”, which samples the Godfather theme and has been flipped to house you.

And shiiiiit (check the tracklist).

Oh and we put some new tunes up on our myspace

Shiiiit

There’ll actually be a post with some tunes in it in the next few days too (yup don’t worry we’re still a music blog)…

Oh and if you didn’t know, Michael Cusack dominates our artwork.

The other two international guests to be featured tomorrow at Scatterfest are NASA and Mowgli – 1 has featured at an Scatterblog party earlier in the year, and the other has been a Scatterblog favourite since close to when we started out.

NASA’s debut album “The Spirit Of Apollo” got all kindsa heads turning (i think they were also most talked about act of 2009 on hypem?), featuring a whole range of big name vocalists. Their live show is filled with cut up and remashed music and visuals, some space costumes and accessories and a whole lotta hype – producing a huge individualistic and exciting show.

Mowgli on the other hand has been some1 who’s music Scatterblog has been in love with since way back when. His style has been ever evolving and he now really leads the market with his label Deadfish and their midget house sound.

Both of their shows will be explosive for totally different reasons. TONITE YO!

So there’s a last minute double double ticket giveaway! So i’ll make em easy.
For one double pass, just answer what Mowgli’s alias is.
For another, name 6 people that featured on NASA’s Spirit Of Apollo album.
Only one double pass per person.

Cheval Superstars

January 1st, 2010

mydtree

These bits of heat from Club Cheval, hailing outta France are a couple of months old, but so dope that they really can’t just sit on my computer (and be thrashed in my sets) and not be posted.
There’s definitely something good going on with Cheval, because their core artists Canblaster, Myd, Bison and Sam Tiba are producing some fine bits of heat. Their tunes have the rawness of some ghetto arse hip hop, a whole lotta energy that’s often featured in French music, plenty of that new worldly club vibe, and hype, chopped and looped hip hop vocals all over the place.

Tune one is fucken raw, live and hectic. Sam Tiba went to town with a real mosh-pit bassline, badman vox and bouncey drums. The tune is real heavy, but still real fucken fun and not over the top. More Tiba riddims soon!

Sam Tiba – Barbie Weed
* Track removed, to be released on that dope label Top Billin Records.

Tune two has become a feature in our new Slap & Dash set cause it’s totally hype and has just enuf space to fit over everything. Mixing this track with any other number = instant party. Canblaster (part of What Planet Is This?) teamed up with relative newcomer Berou for this jem, and from what i hear there’ll be a few more bits of greatness coming from them real soon!

Berou and Canblaster – Kapongo Dance
*Bonus:
King Cannibal – Virgo (Canblaster Dub remix)

Tune three is a remix of Myd (part of Sexual Earthquake In Kobe) from Scatterblog-best-buds Femme En Fourrure. The remix is deep and dirty and totally Fourrure. Myd had the original featured on that Saga Africa EP (with Douster’s awesome “King of Africa”). Grab the whole remix pack over at Juno and look out for a lot more Myd heat coming out real soon!

Myd – Train to Bamako (Femme en Fourrure Remix)

Be sure to keep an eye on this crew, and for now and future buy Club Cheval stuff over at Juno Download.

Baiser Sur La Disco

December 28th, 2009

Bit of awesome right here from Rubix, a super talented producer from The Netherlands. He can do a bunch of styles really well (look out for some disco heat and an electro banger in the near future), but this cut up disco house sound that i just can’t get enuf of at the moment. I’m getting close to being able to play a mini set of the stuff (if anyone has some suggestions on songs, please please please post in the comments).

Check out the rad video, and you can buy this release over at beatport.

hold-hands-face-mask

This is a mega old edit/mash i did (like back in mid 2007, woah!). Anyway, someone called lee posted a comment on the original post, asking if i could re-upload the track and i was all like “shiiit, i forgot about this thang”. Re-listened to it, and it’s actually really relevant to today’s sound- so here’s a dedicated post with it again. I finally found out who The Yank is too. Edit also features Spank Rock x Amanda Blank.
Be sure to check out The Yank on beatport for the original of this tune (also peep his remix of “Inside The Speaker”, rad!)

God damnit time flies, 2010 bitches!

Gutterpunk, Spank Rock, Amanda Blank – Up 2 11 (The Yank Remix – Scattermish Bump Punk Edit)

Oh and a bonus, this video:: (at first your like “woah- so many samples in here!” Then the dude just cuts sick)

SCM-003 – Edu K – Ja, Mann!

December 24th, 2009

eduk_cover_art-loresCover art by Michael Cusack

SCM-003 sees Scattermusic team up with the one, the only, the legend, Edu K. It’s a fun-fuelled trip through varied styles of dope club music and is one that holds close to our heart. Edu was of course our guest DJ at the first official Scatterblog Presents… party back in feb this year, which saw us put together our first release package, and was essentially the start of great things to come.
We feel like we’ve been blood-brothers with Edu ever since, so we’re obviously super excited to put out this release by him. We’ve managed to get together a whopping 7 remixes, making the EP feel more like an album.
(Forgot to mention that this ep is getting played by a heap of great djs, and soon to appear in some mag write ups by some special peeps – and Mom & Dad’s remix was charted #1 by Brodinski in his December chart.)

Edu K has been a master of dance music for years. From his forward thinking Baile Funk to his Rave Zombie Electro and now his worldy, percussion inspired tech house, Edu K has always managed to shock and inspire his audience with his take on music.

His first release with Scattermusic is a 2 track EP, packed to the brim with remixes. The EP includes the tracks “Ja, Mann!”; a cheeky, worldly minimal track filled with energy and plenty of drum rolls and “Jumpin n Pumpin”; a crazy, horn-fuelled number that doesn’t know when to quit.

Remixes of “Ja. Mann!” come courtesy of Mom & Dad with a totally club, stomper that’s all-to-relevant and Slap & Dash with a relentless, Hip Hop influenced dance track, filled with big synths and marching drums. Remixes of “Jumpin n Pumpin” see Dubbel Dutch take us to a dirty rave, flipping the tune over and over; Lewis CanCut get on a new age, hyped up Hip Hop/Dancehall/Baile Funk vibe, with 2 versions, slotting original vocals over the top from Dizzy Dee and Mars E Pan; WILDLIFE! who has given the track an almost Caribbean UK Funky vibe and Femme En Fourrure who have flipped the tune into a deep and dark minimal number to lose yourself to.

Shiiiiit, just HAD to repost this. Big up to Mad Decent and Discobelle for the heads up. Frikstailers (who’s track “Cumbia Kamisama” is a regular feature in Scatterblog sets) have gone to town on this remix. Video is so so so awesome, by Flamboyant Paradise.

On the side note of Discobelle’s awesomeness, you can grab an EXCLUSIVE promo of the Femme En Fourrure remix of Edu K’s “Jumpin n’ Pumpin” (which comes out like tomorrow!!). GRAB IT HERE.

Blame It On The Boogie

December 20th, 2009

shusei_nagaoka_detail

So i’m sitting up in bed making some cds to take into work, going thru my folders, and sitting in some random folder i find this little gem! Which means it’s been sitting on my computer for months, getting no play out and my life has been subsequently been suffering.

The tune is an edit of a classic, by Papa Stevesie aka Steve Lind aka one half of The Hump Day Project. It should be toast for your dancefloor – got a party flavour and plenty of horn stabs, a driving tom loop that fits in with the current club sound and just enuf cheese from you-know-who… BOOM.

Riva Starr Scattermish Remix

_MarionPeckPaintings_3

So, here’s my remix of Riva Starr’s I Was Drunk. Put it up here a bit ago to listen to, but the comp is finished and i didn’t win… so download time! It’s been working well for me in clubs lately, hope it does for you too.

French Fries

December 17th, 2009

French Fries is a name that you’ve probably started seeing and hearing around the place a bit lately and if you haven’t, you surely will in the next couple of months…
He has an individual brand of really hype dance music that’s heavy into baile funk riddims, bmore phatness/cuts/heys with an extra bit of dutch synth and swing. All these words might sound a little cliche, but trust me, there’s a whole lotta depth and variation in French Fries‘ beats that’s definitely got our heads turning, among others.

French Fries is part of a new crew of rad party-dance fellas known as YounGunz; a french label with the likes of Riot Kid, Lazy Flow, Alan Gay, Digikid84 and French Fries on it… Their parties, releases and sound feel all too homely :) . You can expect a nice amount of releases from French Fries out on them and some other special labels we hold close to our heart at the start of next year!

For now check a nice little scatterblog sxlusive of his remix of that tune of the year – giving it a bit more life again. I’m loving the bounce and energy held in the drums in this remix, totally got me moving.

Pump My Biscuit

December 14th, 2009

Thanks to @Discobelle for this freaky-phallic video from @FemmeEnFourrure. Their remix of @EduK is out on Scattermusic (@Scatterblog) Dec 22nd – and has already been getting a lot of love. Enuf @’s for you?

Tranter’s Moustache

December 6th, 2009

So this EP is actually really close to release- all of a sudden it’s turned into a 5-track Tranterfest, and i can’t help but feel the happy vibe. Tranter has a totally infectious personality that manages to make it’s way into all his music, which makes it virtually impossible for me not to get excited. He can do anything from euro-rave, emo-club, afro-tech and vocal house and have me loving every eclectic breakdown or cheesy drop – it all just manages to work. His EP will feature a bit of almost all of that, which you might say is a little random, but when you hear everything together the EP could not be any more concise. mustache

So time for Tranter’s awesome remix of a similarly awesome original by fellow Melbourne-outfit, Polo Club (check that OG beat!). Big emo chords, a driving dance beat and an ode to Queen get this song on repeat in my car. Polo Club’s full length is now out at record stores and via iTunes.
