The Scatterblog

supernaturalamphitheatre

Well we just produced our own festival last week with the full help and support of the Espy. Now its time to rock someone elses. So chuffed about this one. Scatterblog Soundsytem has just been asked to headline the dj’s on the sat night at pretty much our favourite music festival in the country. For those of you not familiar Golden Planes is the little bro to Meredith Music Fest. Both share the same venue and orginisational team, and both are always at the forefront of music culture. I did the same set in ‘07 for MMF and had pretty much the time of my life cant wait to share the stage this time with my boys. Im not sure what the deal is with tix for this one but it sells out every year to the point where u need to get on a ballot the year before. Check this years line-up here.

We will be rocking a crazy show with all 5 of the Scatterblog acts (Slap & Dash, Scattermish, Mu-Gen, Mat Cant & Lewis Cancut) playing together for 3 hrs. We have many a surprise up our sleeves including props, dancers, sets and all sorts of bat shit crazy stuff………….. Can u say EPIC!!!!!

I was going through some pics on my computer today and found the stage plot we sent through to the festival. Its piss funny, it looks like my 8yo niece drew it or som’n, spelling mistakes and all, but you can blame me for that one. As you can see we will be pumping some heavy duty sonic sound with all that gear on the night.

scatterblog stage plot

Just thought I would share the pic along with a cheeky edit of the new Hollertronix Party Squad “Pull Up” (buy here) I did a few months back. Not much done to the original except some more hype added and a few cut ups in the second drop. Plus I also attached the Shaun D “Mad Drums” joint on the tail of it for shows, you know, so i can bump straight into another blend.. It was made in like an hour so no hating on the lameness aight!

So all hell is bout to break loose at any moment now with the third release from us here at Scattermusic. A whole bunch of love, favours and dodgy handshakes have made this one come together. Edu K is a much loved artist here, and we are more than privileged to release the music of someone we respect and think is at the pointy end of his scene. So before the bomb drops on what we think is a crazy well rounded release, here is a little tid bit to get stuck into;

As Slap & Dash Scatters and I went to town on this remix. We messed around loads with the song, and along the way it morphed through all kinds of sonic mixtures before becoming what it is on the final release. This version was thrown out along the way and didnt quite make the cut. Its is a dub drum-heavy joint with a real raw party feel. Taking more of the focus towards rythm and drum rather than a synth hook line. These two remix’s are very different from each other but we kinda love em both.

EDU K – Ja’ Mann (Slap & Dash Drum Dub)

P.s. Santa is coming a day earlier than I sated in comments of previous post…. So….Its dropping today!

Zombies For Money EP 1

December 19th, 2009

zombies

Introducing Zombies For Money. I wanna start this up by saying this is the first release in months that has completely made me do the big double take. If you’re wondering who the hell they are? Well then my answer would be: two crazy rad dudes (DJ Manaia & Klipar) from Portugal who are gonna blow the hell up in 2010.

This EP is so stupid tight! The duo seem to have found influence from kuduro, dutch synth, afro-house and all sorts of worldly goodness. They have managed to utilise all of these influences and make one amazingly tight and original sounding piece of work. The arrangements are a-grade, drums heavy, synths funky, hooks hooky and pretty much everything else i concentrate on when producing is covered. It’s one of those “i so wish i made this album” moments. My pick out of this bunch would have to be “Bhangra Dance”. No more needs to be said really.

They boys have be most nice and offered the whole Ep up for free so check out the sound of next year below:

Tribal Club…..

December 13th, 2009

GetAttachment-1As you already know Scatters and I have been getting all sweaty in the studio working out the new Slap & Dash mix. It has become a monster that is owning all of my attention. Along the way in trying to make something “new” we have tried a whole bunch of songs and sounds. Some made it into the mix, others did not. Here I’m going to pay homage to some of the tracks that got thrown out along the way.

This tune rules my world at the moment. I had never heard of Venezuelian Ronny Santana before i coped this burner a few weeks ago, but then with only 7,000 plays on his myspace i dont think many out there had. Totally melting together tribal beats and chants with dutch synth styled electro it has a charm on the dance-floor like nothing else. It has worked for me in all types of sets, playing pretty much every roll a song could. Such a shame it couldnt find a place in our set.

Ronny Santana / En La Nalga (On The Ass) feat. Jordy

The Costuleta tune is heavy original sounding Kuduro. Its some sort of mystery tune where no-one is really certain who created it. Word on the street is that Dj Znobia made the beat originally with early vocal versions from Vagabanda and others. Shame they aint credited on the version that blew up. Made nearly 4yrs ago it is still sounding “current” as far as Kuduro bangers go. Massive tune, kind of makes me sad that we couldn’t fit it in the mix.

Costuleta ft DJ Znobia / Tchriri

OK so this is gonna be bananas!!! The new emperors of Thursday night debauchery HANGTIME, same dudes that have thrown mad parties of late presenting acts such as: La Roux, LMFAO, and Spinderella. Well, they have been way friggin nice and invited us, the infamous blog nerds and dance floor crushers SCATTERBLOG to deliver on some filth. This is going to be one mega fun co-lab, so come party-drink and dance with a fat chick this thursday at Ding Dong (addy above).

SET-TIMES
9-10: Dublin Aunts
10-11: Lewis Cancut
11-12: Mat Cant
12-1: Mu-Gen
1-close: Scattermish

I hear Dublin Aunts are gonna provide some freaky party disco shiz. We are gonna provide the ruckus via club, kuduro, funky, hip hop, grime and all things ghetto. I know Mat has made a cheeky edit of hip hop superstar Bangs he’s gonna drop, think Lewis will prob end up in hospital from some sort of tragic dagga incident, Scatters is most def gonna drink his weight in whiskey and well me,? I’m gonna spend the whole night rubbing myself as i just got a new velvet jumper.. POW!

Not gonna leave without giving up a track or two…… The Shaun-D joint is straight heat. First time I heard it I lost my shit, about a week later I was like “not sure”, then I lost my shit once more, so now I’m posting it before I think its “meh” again. It’s a bubbling-kuduro number with air horns, crazy synth and a dash of ze bula vox. Just download it! The Ghislain tune is hard arse dance hall-ragga. Wish I had more sets to play this kind of heat.

Kinda blog diary……eewww

Lately I have been real busy in the studio with Scatters finishing off some new Slap & Dash production, including a remix for Edu K’s ep coming out through Scattermusic, also working on our new Slap & Dash 4 deck,  plus adding some more Mu remix love on Lewis Cancut’s ep which will surprise a whole bunch of cats. The boy is a little genius. This is the first and last time I’m going to post something up like its a blog diary, but i kinda wanna share. In my hiatus I did a whole bunch of production mixes and edits for fashion shows around the country. I get a fair bit of this work and its always fun as you get to explore the different shades of electronic music. It’s kinda shaping the way i see music now, dance music especially. I’m looking for a bit more than just a hook. I’m finding myself deep in the arrangements of music. Anyway blah fucking blah. To sum it up I’m using arrangements and samples from 60-70’s world records and adding them to modern electronica to make some pretty fun stuff. More for the listen than the play out, but I figure I would share what I have been doing to excuse my no-posting for the last couple of months. Also for the club heads is my 15min mix I did for a dj comp in Melbourne a little bit back. This is a live practice from the day before so excuse some mistakes. In the end I didn’t win. Ripped off i tellz ya.. Nah, well done to Spacey who did.

Mu-Gen Dhini RAFW ‘09 (DOWNLOAD)

No track list available for this one as its real short (like 5mins) and choc full of samples. Prob my favourite fashion mix I have made of late. The brief i worked with had key words like tribal and marching drums. The start of the show had a live marching band drummer playing along until the main drop where i sampled buraka. Was mad fun to work with  a live musician on a piece of work I’m really proud of.

Mu-Gen – Trimapee 09 (MFW) DOWNLOAD

This mix was so much fun to put together. I always do Trimapee’s show music and have a really good relationship with the guys who run it. They pretty much give a brief and let me run with what I want. This mix had a crazy brief, industrial, Arabic, historical and modern. WTF right? It took a bit of planning but i think I nailed it.

So I won this comp a couple of years ago and was pretty keen to do it again this year. This happened around the time of the Major Lazer album drop earlier this year so i thought with all the hype around I would do a Major Lazer inspired mix. The way I would describe this is Carnival rave party with a dash of surf rock…

I’m Back…..

October 23rd, 2009

1586934034_22edc28e03

Well we have all been real crazy busy here at scatterblog getting a whole ton of stuff off the ground, label, new website, gigs, tours and all sorts of shit. I’m out of my blogging hiatus, refreshed and ready to share some of the heat that has been driving me bonkers in clubs-ville of late. Taking a break and the pressure off yourself always leads to new inspiration and at the moment I’m finding it everywhere.

Mu’s top 12 joints im feeling right now:

Renaissance Man – Canto Della Kalimba Bootcut (download)
(ysi)
NT89 & Distrakt – Pumpin (BeatauCue rmx) (out soon)

April March – Chic Habbit (download)
(ysi)
Mat, Bira, Kvinnor -Weed (Kingdom rmx) (download)
(ysi)
Major Lazer – Pon de Floor (BeatauCue rmx) (downoad)

Edu K – Ja’ Mann (Slap & Dash rmx) (out soon)

Digital Manges – Manges (Sharkslayer DUB rmx) (download)

Zumen – Sambatech (download)
(ysi)
DJ Shaun D – Mad Drumz (download)
(ysi)
Jahcoozi – Namedropper (solo rmx) (download)
(ysi)
FM Audio – Killer (Afrojack rmx) (download)
(ysi)
Malente & Dex ft. New Kidz – Lions (Douster remix) (out soon)

As you can see by my top 12(cant narrow to 10) I’m going nuts over drums again. Carnival drums, marching drums, log drums, any big drums really… Its become the basis of my sets and helps bridge that gap between the somewhat over the top dutch sound and the uber minimal tech/funky sounds I’m working with. The Shaun D (mad drumz) tune is a crazy tool for anyone needing a jam with this purpose in mind. In terms of the crazy synth hype stuff im feeling its deff a tie between the first drop in Beataucue’s Nt89 & Distrakt remix or the instrumental part of Solo’s  Jahcoozi remix. Both got such dope swing to the synth hooks but yet still really rolling with drive. The next standouts from this selection are for reasons non other than pure crowd reaction, but for totally different reasons. First is the April March track. Super cool laid back 70’s  party (even though its from ‘94) tune that I have been playing non-stop since I came across it in the tarentino movie Death Proof. Second on this list is the Manges Sharkslayer dub mix.. Of my fucking God.. Can this tune do any wrong. Mixes dope, crazy drums, hook from hell, ghetto hype, but best of all the original is from my partner in crime Scatters. Whoop whoop… Not gonna talk about all of them, u get my drift.

Well very late announcement but we only just orginised this as a last minute gig with the cats over at Streetparty. All free and all very last minute but we have the guys from Classixx and also Neoteric tonight at eurotrash.

For those of you not in the know Classixx are a production crew from L.A. that have been released on comps like Kitsuni Maison and had their video “I’ll Get You” directed by Cobrasnake. They do the electro sound really well but will be playing a chill set I think tonight.

Neoteric is a cat from Canada who plays all kinds of party madness. I played with him last Saturday and was pretty much blown away by the dudes skills and selection. Which, I guess I should be considering he is A&R for Dubsided and also part of the Smoke & Mirrors colab with U-Tern.

Ill be paying in between the two with the streetparty dj’s holding down the rest of the club. Set times are below. What else can you do on a Tuesday for free except watch “All Saints”…. Yawn!

Downstairs

10-12:30 Blair (Soccer Mums)

12:30-1:30 Girls Got Child

Gallery
11-12 Classixx
12-1 Mu-Gen
1-2 Neoteric
2-3 Kablam

Thought I would give you a taste of Neoteric in the mix. This is his mad as fuck Australian and New Zealand Tour Mix CD. One word “Whoooaaaa”. Track list is in the comments.

Neoteric / 2009 Australian Tour Mix

And also another couple of little treats from Neoteric in the form of a two Smoke and Mirrors bangers. One is a remix of Tittsworths “WTF” and the other a crazy remix of Cypress Hills “Insane In the Brain”. If you aint already got them you aint partying hard enough.

Smoke & Mirrors / Insane

Tittsworth / WTF (Smoke Mirrors Remix)

Well where do I start. Things are changing in club world at the moment with the move to the minimal sound pretty much taking over. There is a fine line between minimal and minimal party. For me Im really feeling the more worldly side of minimal that artists like Zombie Disco Squad, Radioclit, Douster, Renaissance Man, and Afrojack are making. Recently I received an email from EDU K that contained a whole bunch of his new works. I went friggin crazy. I was not expecting a style change of this magnitude. Every single tune was banana’s and exactly what I am hunting down at the moment. He has nailed this sound to a T. I was so freaked out I just had to talk to him about this new direction and whats causing the stir world wide. He has also been rad enough to let me post three of my favourite tunes he sent through. Read the interview and be blown away by the music. This man is always at the forefront so listen up.

Mu-Gen: Ok so we have all been following you a while now and have watched you transition your style over the years through all sorts of genres. From baile to rock to rave and now this whole new “world minimal” thing you got going on… Can you fill us in on what motivates you to change your sound so often? And how is it so on point all the time?

Edu K: Hahaha, I dunno about it being’ “so on point”, hehe but, when it comes 2 changin’ all the time like there’s no tomorrow, haha, I have always been like that, from day one. I dunno what it is, maybe some kind of disease, hehe, but, when I start feelin’ the itch I can’t do nothin’ but follow my heart n’ dive head on in a whole new universe – that’s what keeps it fresh n’ fun 4 me – I’d fuckin’ die if I would have 2 keep doin’ the same stuff on n’ on. I’m also very curious so, I’m always excited by a new challenge! But I get inspired by all kinds of different stuff 2, not just music. Sometimes it’s a line inna movie, sometimes it’s comic books, sometimes it’s something I heard on the streets, sometimes it’s the TV n’ on n’ on. There’s so much happenin’ all the time that it’s hard not be 2 to be runnin’ around with ideas burnin’ in the back of your mind every minute of the day, hehe!

Mu-Gen: Can you describe what it is your playing/making now? And how the hell do you do it(-ie- what u using)?

Edu K: Hahhaa, I dunno..i think tags are very limiting. If there’s like a true need 4 that everybody should have their own, hehe! This kind of music has been called different names thru the years – at first the godfathers, Zombie Disco Squad (along with Radioclit), called it Zulu house, then Mowgli and Solo called it Midget ( minimal fidget), you are calling it World Minimal, hehe. But, in therms of sounds n’ shit it’s a mix of the minimal thing, with very stripped arrangements n’ reverb drenched skinny percussive synths with the house groove n’ feeling and the bangin’ drums of Africa n’ Brasil spiced with the fidget punch minus the traditional rave sound it brought back 2 fashion in its heyday. I think we’re all goin’ thru a huge Electro/Fidget hangover, hehe – peeps are lookin’ for different sounds n’, of course, a lil’ less noise in the club 4 a change, hehe! As in what I use to do it, my main tool is Reason runnin’ thru a PC, hahaha!

Mu-Gen: The world seems so much more accepting and connected (internet) to different dance music cultures these days. What countries modern dance culture are you following?

Edu K: Well, yes indeed - I, as a Brasilian producer/dj with an international carrer thanx 2 the internet, can’t deny that the world connection thru the net is mind blowin’ but, at the same time the flipside is that everything n’ everybody is lookin’ more n’ more the same – the local factor has lost a lil’ bit of its flame! The downside of globalization might as well be the risin’ of a certain lack of individualism, generally speakin’. But, yeah, at the same time it’s the most amazing thing – I can find out about a new act, like Finnish duo Femme En Fourrure (you can check ‘em on my myspace top friends) n’ right away get in touch with them, exchange trax n’ start playin’ their music on my next set, ages before it gets released n’ shit – getting’ peeps 2 know new acts n’ keepin’ the whole DJing process as fresh as fuck! N’ there’s soooo much amazing music beein’ done these days that I have 2 restrain myself from the computer cuz, if not, I’ll spend my whole days n’ nites searchin’ n’ listenin’ 2 new music, hahah – what a nerd-o! But, in therms of countries I be followin’ I think I’d say the good ‘ol UK – but let’s not forget that so many dudes over there makin’ the IT music we love so much right now are Italian, hee, like Mowgli n’ Solo. But also, there’s incredible music comin’ from the US nowadays – take Harvard Bass, Noise Floor Crew, Lady Foursquare, Local Hero, Angel Alanis, the whole Dirtybird crew n’ youngsters like Mom & Dad as an example. But Finland is huge n’ risin’ 2 – Renaissance Man won’t let me lie! But, let’s not forget the Dutch House scene 2 – I think , at least 45% of the producer/DJs I play, like Afrojack, Gregor Salto, JoeySuki and Bassjackers comes from there, hehe! Actually, answerin’ this question really shows that I’m playin stuff from all over the world, actually! Hahaha!

Mu-Gen: Paz from the blog is obviously obsessed with new dance crazes and he wants to know, is there a native dance for your new sound?

Edu K: hahahah! Not yet, as far as I’m concerned but, it’d defs be some hypno-afro-tribal shit, haha! But, hey, speakin’ of Paz, where the hell is my Uncle Chop Chop tee, ya bastardz, HUAHUAHUAHAUHAUHAU! (edit–T-shirt was my bad…. I’ll go back and check if it’s still there)

Mu-Gen: Im obviously a big fan and look to people like you for inspiration on new ideas… Who are you looking at?

Edu K: Whoa, it’s such an honor 2 hear that from u – the 1st time I saw u guys tearin’ shit up on Slap N’ Dash’s set that nite in Melbs, it totally fuckin’ blew my mind! It made me think n’ rethink everything in a new way. It’s really inspirin’ 2 see the different ways peeps approach production, cuttin’, editin’ n’ all of that! N’, with me it’s like a rush : my body starts burnin’ n’ my head starts runnin’,hehe! I get dizzy with nu ideas, haha – n’ that was the case that nite n’ also with Scatter’s Rhys’ remix – which prompted me 4 weeks!!! But, in that same Oz tour, my last one, I had the epiphany which changed the direction of my sound 4 good when I saw Teki Latex Djing in Sidney!!!! The guys is THE fuckin’ prophet! Of course ZDS n’ Radioclit are the recent prime movers but Teki really took it a million notches up with the whole Sound Pellegrino sound n’ shit. To be honest I wasn’t very happy with my own music n’ with the whole fidget thing durin’ that tour n’, Andy Campion, my good ol’ friend n’ manager, kept pestering me about tracky house, hehe, n’ showin’ me sum stuff I didn’t know before like Smith N’ Hack n’ some other mins shit, hehe! N’ when I saw Teki DJin’ at one of Andy’s parties it all came together – with a BANG, hahaha! So, I came back 2 Brasil with my head so full of ideas that I ditched my whole old set n’ built a new one with that nu sound in a couple of days n’ from there on all my nu trax n’ remixes followed that direction 2. The good thing is that, with digi releases these days everything is soooo fast that I already have something out representin’ this nu phase with the Tee ‘Ski & Shab Ruffcut Ooww Barr Boo remix – n’ there’s plenty more comin’ out in the next couple of months!

Mu-Gen: What are you working on at the moment? And whats coming out?

Edu K: Maaann, shit loads of stuff! I finally got around 2 craftin some originals in the nu tip n’ now that that door is opened there’s no stopin’, hehe – I have 7 trax done already n’ many many more poppin’ up on a daily basis. But also, I’m knee deep in remix work, haha. I have like 10 to finish til’ next couple of weeks n’ more comin’ in everyday, ahaha! I guess you can expect a whole batch of Edu K Eps pretty soon n’ I’m workin’ on remixes 4 Mary Velo, Yolanda Be Cool, Missill, Killa Queenz, Superpose, Chenobyl , Two Fresh n’ my gal MC Gaff E! Next ones 2 hit a digi-store near you, ahaha, are Paul Whitehead’s Bad Boy, Shab Ruffcut’s Twist and For What and Koochie’s Loosing My Mind.

Mu-Gen: Finally can you give me a top ten of this new sound were talking about.. What are you feeling?

Edu K: Whoa, maaan, it would have 2 be a Top 100, hahaha but, here we go:

1 Worthy & Yankee Zulu – Concumbia
2 Harvard Bass – 81
3 Benny Rodriques & Kapuchon – The Other Finger
4 Chuckie & Silvio Ecomo – Moombah (Afrojack Remix)
5 Wongo – The Wombat Woddle
6 Femme Em Fourrure – Pull Out
7 Renaissance Man – Dubbo
8 Mom & Dad – Judas
9 Righi & Dan –
Havana Loca (Juan Magan & Marcos Rodrigues Remix)
10 Giorgio Giordano – Amazzonia (JoeySuki Remix)
11 Daniele Petronelli – CBM64 (Emrah Celik Remix)

Now for the music. The three tunes below are all party, all minimal world or what ever the hell you want to call it, and all must drops for your sets. There is one remix and two completely exclusive originals. I’m obsessed with this sound and Edu’s ability to produce whateva the hell he wants regardless of genre. Not gonna say much more except download and enjoy some free heat from one rad as fuck dude.

TEE ‘SKI & SHAB RUFFCUT / Ooww Barr Boo (EDU K’s Vanilla Chewie Mix)

EDU K / Broken Tap

EDU K / Ja, Mann

Well that was way epic….. If you want to find out more info on Edu K you should jump to his MYSPACE. Or if you are a twitt head and want to find out how much vodka he consumed at a gig then follow him on his TWITTER. And of course you can give the brother some $$$ for Vodka by purchasing his joints at BEATPORT.

SLAP and DASH DO SYDNEY

May 21st, 2009

Ok so its been a long time coming but Scatters and I are finally doing our first Sydney show as Slap & Dash tomoz night at Chinese Laundry. Its hosted by Jam Music and the Hump Day Project guys who im sure your all familiar with now seeing we post their joints all the time.
We have been working on a whole new sound for the upcoming Scatterblog shows and this will be the first unveiling of our new style. So depending on how drunk we get it could go crazy or balls up.

Support on the night from Marky Mark & King Lee, Luny P(rad dude deluxe), Neon Stereo, Ben Henderson and of course the dope duo of Hump Day Project.

The tune connected to this post is a Hump Day edit of a booty joint I gave them last time I was up there. Been meaning to post the original for ever and a bit but have kinda been keeping it close to me. Its a banging old school Miami tune by 24-K called “Dont go there”.

Check the poster above for details if your keen on party time!

WITH A HARD “G” CLUB MIX

April 27th, 2009

Well its been roughly four and a bit years since i did my last proper dj mix. The mix was my entry for the Red Bull Academy and so much friggin work I thought I would never do another again. It took all my homies from here submitting mixes for the detboi gig promo we did a last week to finally get me off my ass and record something.

This time round I thought I would take the opposite approach and do a live “one take” kinda thing. Its not a simple mix by any means but its all me, all live. For your scratch nerds out there please take into consideration I had a broken arm at the time (excuses) but not joking.

Any way this mix is a pretty good representation of what I have been jamming in the clubs down here for the last six months or so. There’s some old mixes and some new ones, some exclusives, some oldies, but pretty much party town from start to finish.

I had a mad ass time doing it so stay tuned for some more in the future. I’m working on a “world minimal” as Scatters likes to call it, or UK Funky/Hyper-Bass mix as we speak. Should be recorded pretty soon.

With a hard “G” is titled so for those fuckers out there who keep saying my name wrong… Its “Moooo” like a cow. Then “Gen” with a hard “G“…

MU-GEN / With A Hard Day “G” Vol.1 (club mix) (direct)

Hope you all dig it. Here’s the track list for 49 Min’s of party:

2. Bangers & Cash / Loose (ESTAW Gets Spanked fix)

3. Rico Tubbs / Gangsters (2bit Thugs Remix)

4. Tittsworth feat. Pase Rock & Kid Sister / WTF (Nadastrom On Drugs Remix)

5. Tag Team / Whoot There It Is (Accapella)

Here it is. Another installment of the mixburn series. This time we got one of Australia’s and the worlds best dj’s to mix it up Melbourne Style…Enter Perplex

There has been a trend for battle dj’s to cross over into club world recently (-ie- A-Trak, Craze and DJ Klever) where they can play to bigger crowds and have a little more fun behind the decks in a little less serious/competitive world.
I have known Perplex for quite some time now and watching him make this progression into the club world has been an absolute pleasure. Most peeps have known him as a battle dj, who has taken out three consecutive national DMC titles (06, 07 & 08) and competed in the world’s a bunch of times. Now they will get to know him as someone at the forefront of dance music culture…. Just with mad ass skills as well.

This mix has taken Perplex a ton of sweat and tears to put together but its so worth it when you listen. A large percentage of the tracks in it are exclusive mashes he has put together himself. I always say that hip-hop dj’s make the best dance dj’s, purely because of the sequencing and skill level they bring to the table. Not the normal play the track to the breakdown and mix shit. But let’s flip the hell out of everything. This mix is no different. He gives us the blends of a house dj with the cut’s and mahem of and old hip hopper at heart.

Perplex is delving deeper and deeper into club world of late pretty much pushing his new sound at all his shows. We had him play at a recent Scatterblog night at Revolver and by word of mouth he killed his new sound/direction. People take note cause Perplex is going to take the club world by storm in 09.

Check the video below for his technique:

WINKLEPICKER RULES

April 2nd, 2009

Ok, so after a pretty dull last year party wise Melbourne seems to be picking up the pace and putting some quality shows on around town. Enter WINKLEPICKER. They threw their first party last month and it was talked about by pretty much everyone around town for weeks. It seems that this time they are putting the pressure on themselves and making this one bigger, better and way more ridiculous.

Everyone entering gets these crazy glasses that will do some sort of trippy shit to your eyes. Artworks, games and all sorts of illusions have been put all around the club for people to loose their shit too either in reality or on the dance floor. As the blurb says “We want to party, you want to party. It’s more interesting with another dimension.”

One of the best local lineups I have seen too. Scatterblogs PAZ is opening things up followed by whom I think are the three best “team dj” talents around. First 1fish 2fish, I don’t need to say anymore about them after Mat’s mega post. Then the boys from Yacht Club dj’s who have been ripping up festivals all over the country for the past year. These guys put on one hell of a crazy show. Guaranteed nudity people from the boys, plus their doing a huge 2 hr set. Then some old fukkas called Slap & Dash or something. Finally my Eurotrash homie and another young talent to watch “Sleeves“. He kills it enough said.

Its all on at Roxanne in the city (level3, 2 coverlid place) $10 entry and starts at around 11pm.

Ok so Scatters and I have been working on some freshness for this one so I thought I would leave you with two bombs were dropping tomoz night. First up is a hype slammer from Virginia USA’s Bobby LaBeat that just keeps building to epic proportions. He’s doing mad party tunes so check him out asap.
Second is some heat from a man that is doing everything right at the moment
L-VIS 1990. He runs these Night Slug’s party’s with Bok Bok that appear to be off the chain. Playing “Global Gutter House and Heavy Bass Cutting Edge”. Tell me you don’t want to go to that. Two amazing producers, cant get enough of either of their production. They are the next big thing, but we all already know that. No pressure boys.

Bobby LaBeat / Cick Clack

La Roux / In 4 the Kill (L-Vis 1990 RIP Hyper Bass Remix)

La Roux / In 4 the Kill (L-Vis 1990 RIP Hyper Bass Remix) (YSI)

1. Digital Manges / Love Affair (unreleased) (myspace)
2. TC / Where’s my money (Caspa Remix) (Jack beats Re-edit) (unreleased)(myspace)
3. Diplo x MGMT x L-Vis 1990 / Hey It’s Devil Time (Mu-Gen Toilet Time Edit) (download)
4. Trey Duece / Handz Up Thumbs Down (download)
5. God / My Pal (youtube) (youtube live 1988)
6. Tittsworth / Tear The Club Up (Bird Peterson Remix) (myspace)
7. Douster / Dutty Wine (download)
8. PoPo / Pay The Price (myspace)
9. Scattermish / Bang Out Metal (download)
10. Street Recordings (devro’s are bomb)

I often make little edits of tunes here and there too play out in the club’s. This is the most recent flip to be done. I have been meaning to finish the full version of the “We Got The Bass” joint off our album for like two weeks now. Things got crazy in the studio and I ended up working on this one late in the morning when I should have been doing other junk.
It’s a little mash between
Diplo’s “Must be a devil”, MGMT’s “Time to pretend (diplo remix)” and L-Vis 1990’s remix of “Hey”. All credit goes to the artists who wrote the jams in the first place, I just cut and paste some stuff really with a few chops added for fun.

Toilet time edits are pretty self explanatory really. If you need to do a long #1 or short #2 when in the middle of your set, and cant afford to loose any of the dance floor…. That’s when its time to drop this sucker. Ill be adding more toilet times as often as I can.
