ROSKA

March 12th, 2010

roska

Roska’s been on my radar for awhile now with his future garagey type beats and recently he put out this video of his track Squark, i cant wait to get a hold of this!

YouTube Preview Image

Roska is also about to release his debut album on Rinse and to hype it up they will be releasing two 12″ – the first of which is simply titled Roska 1. There is three tracks on the EP, two vocal tracks (featuring Jamie George and Anesha) that are rad funky  tunes but to me its all about “Time Stamp”, that thing is madness! Its got a great funky step with a old school feel and that hook will get stuck in your head for weeks.

Here’s a link for you all but make sure you watch out for the 12″ landing on the 5th of April.

So i’ve had heaps of people ask me about my set that i played at Scatterfest on January 30th at The Espy so i decided to record it and put it up for download. I was going to record the whole 45 minutes but i though a nice little half hour mix would be better so here it is.

Warrior One

February 22nd, 2010

Anyone that knows me will know that i have been completely taken by the UK club sounds at the moment, especially the funky bashment movement. London DJ/production duo Warrior One have been pushing the funky bashment sound recently and have a really solid debut EP that’s coming out soon. The EP includes the carnival hype ‘King Riddim‘ feat the amazing Lady Chann, i play this tune every chance i get and it never disappoints, will be a big tune in 2010. Next is the Ninjaman sampling “Bad Like Jimmy Cliff“, a ode to Jamaican ska legend that really gets the bass bins moving. The rest of the EP starts to cater for the late night heads showing they can rave with “The Machine” and “Turn The Music Up“, both getting huge support from Annie Mac.

Here’s the big tune “Bad Like Jimmy Cliff” and the  amazing video they made for it that samples the movieThe Harder They Come“, enjoy!

james amato

As you should all know by now Scatterfest isn’t too far away so expect a lot of posts highlighting some of the artists that appear on the line up. After Lewis great post on Shit Robot, I’ve put together a bit of background information on James Amato.

James Amato is one of the most widely recognised names in the electronic music scene, and also one of the busiest. Not just a DJ, James divides his time promoting club nights and since 2007, has been running his fidget/electro/tech-house record label ‘Potty Mouth Records’ which is one of the hottest labels in the music scene today.

1990 saw James launch his music career in Milwaukee and as he worked his way through the local and Midwest rave scene, his profile grew. In 2004 James became Milwaukee’s Mantra Lounges co-owner/director of music and bookings – which opened the doors for him to launch the successful club night ‘Kamasutra’. The night continued to grow during the 3-years stint, giving the club national attention with publications in URB magazine and a front-page cover story in Nightclub/Bar Magazine.’

Basing himself in Chicago in 2006, James became the new director of Music and Bookings for ‘Smart Bar’, a venue with 25 years of showcasing electronic talent under its belt. Juggling the roles of both promoter and booker, he was responsible of bringing Chicago some of the hottest acts in the electronic music scene to date. These included Switch, Alan Braxe, Digitalism, Crookers, Erol Alkan and Claude Vonstroke .

In 2007, James received critical fanfare in Chicago when he was named part of New City Magazines “45 Most Influential People That Rock Chicago.” In addition to this he was named one of the next “10 Exciting Up-And-Comers” in the electronic music world in 2008.

James’ rising profile in the underground electronic scene led to the creation of two successful digital/vinyl labels including the well-known Potty Mouth Music which has now established itself as a label which has supported the electro, house, techno and crunk genres. The label has released over 30 EP’s and has showcased big-name talent including: Santiago & Bushido, Crookers, HiJack and the Mightyfools.

In October 2009 James relocated to Los Angeles where he continues to balance his career as a promoter, label-owner, DJ and producer.

As an extra here is a link to a current phone interview James did on potty mouth music
JAMES AMATO INTERVIEW

I can’t write this post without some music so here is James’s Latest Mixtape featuring a lot of Potty Mouth Releases. This will give you a great idea of what you will witness in a James Amato DJ Set.

Crack House

November 4th, 2009

So this is my first post on the new site and im going to give some love to a producer who i can’t get enough of at the moment, DJ Zinc. Ive been meaning to write a post on DJ Zinc for awhile now and when Zinc’s people at Bingo Bass contacted us recently it felt like the perfect time to do it.

The last few months i have been playing so much of his music and his new “Crack House EP” is up there as one of my favourite releases of the year with great guest appearances from Benga, Sweetie Irie, Angela Hunte and No Lay. It has been getting regular radio and club play from A-trak, Diplo, Brodinski (included one track on his Bugged Out comp) Skream, Fake Blood (included 1 track on radio 1 essential mix), Annie Mac etc. (Annie played 4 tracks from this EP on her radio 1 show) plus loads more.

I highly recommends you pick up this EP – all ten tracks are worth your money – from Beatport or Itunes

Here are two of the more popular tracks from the EP for download in 320 goodness thanks to the great people at Bingo Bass

ScatterCam – Part 1

September 29th, 2009

Here it is, what you have all been waiting for, SCATTERCAM!

This is the first installment of what will be a regular thing at all our Scatterblog parties from now on. We will pretty much be filming our parties and putting together a 3-4 minute video for you all to look back on or witness what you missed out on! If you see us putting a camera in your face, there is a good chance you will be in one of these videos. We will be filming this Saturday once again at our party with Foamo so make sure you keep an eye out…

This video is not from a Scatterblog party but from a show we all did with Santiago & Bushido early this month. Only Santiago came out on the tour but he still rocked it just as we expected, and was a really nice dude as well. The night was rad, everyone seemed to get right into it and even though it wasn’t our party we still noticed a lot of the Scatterblog party regulars were there, which is a nice thing!

So here it is, hope you enjoy it and look out for more scatterCam very soon!

Also here is one of the more popular Santiago & Bushido tracks of the night to download, enjoy!

Santiago & Bushido feat Colette – Make Me Feel (Original Mix)

Who’s There?

September 27th, 2009

A little over a month ago I had the pleasure of meeting Trouble & Bass Heavyweight AC Slater while he was in Melbourne. He was in Australia on tour and had a couple of spare days so we hung out, grabbed some lunch with Nick Thayer and we even went on a road trip to see some native Australian animals. While he was here we also spent a day in Nick’s Studio together making a sneaky little bootleg remix of the already huge Riton & Primary 1 tune “Who’s There?”. We spread it around to some DJs and rinsed it out in the club for a couple of weeks but now we have decided to get it out into the big bad world.

It has been getting hype from the likes of Bass Weazal, Heavyfeet, Andrew Friendly etc… ENJOY!

Riton & Primary 1 – Who’s There? (AC Slater, Nick Thayer, Mat Cant Remix)

I just found out that HeavyFeet have included this remix in their new Autumn Mixtape as well as the big-time Hump Day Project Remix of “Hornbo”, the track i made with Scattermish that will be officially released late October on our new scatterblog based label “ScatterMusic”… Head over to the amazing Bass Music Blog and pick up the mixtape NOW, you wont be disappointed!

September 3rd, 2009

I just wanted to let you all know that the new
Schlachthofbronx album is super dope and you should all go buy it at beatport or even juno. Here is one of my favourite tracks off the album, also watch out for the album vinyl drop on Sept 18th

Schlachthofbronx feat Doubla J – Di Finga (removed by request)

So i hit up the schalachthofbronx dudes letting them know about this post and they were really cool with it but asked if i could post up another track off the album that has been sent out as promo. This track is still mad fiyah and features another one of the scatterblog favourites Spoek Mathambo as apart of the slush puppy kids

Pick It Up

July 28th, 2009

About a month ago i had the pleasure of going into the studio with Nick Thayer, producer extraordinaire and all round nice guy! We had talked about getting together for awhile to make a track and i was glad it finally happened, i picked up so much in the time i was with him and after a couple of days we had something completed. It is essentially a club version of Fatman Scoop’s Faith Evan’s sampling Chic sampling Be Faithful, and i wont lie we were listening to alot of nadastrom before hand!

We have got a lot of love with this tune from local and international DJs and it has been doing damage to dance floors wherever i play it. Here is it tagged and serato ready, hope you enjoy it!

Nick Thayer & Mat Cant – Pick It Up (direct download)

Also you can hear it on Nick’s latest Mixtape Thizz Disco Vol 3, the tracklist is amazing and i’ll post it in the comments section for anyone that’s interested.

CLUB CLUB – Retry

June 26th, 2009

Mat Cant – Club Club Mixtape (direct link)

Ive sent it out to quite a few people over the last week but i havnt included the track list, so for those who want it you can find it in the comments section

Also here is a quick little edit i did of Rye Rye track “Bang”, make it funky y’all!
