Mu-Gen is a DJ’s DJ. He treats music like a pack of piñata’s; finding treats, putting them in donkey’s and bashing them with sticks until it rains candy. As one part of international cult music blog-turned-label Scattermusic, he is part of a team that is internationally recognised for breaking the music, and making it better.

The past 10 years has seen him develop from a sample record-digging expert of the obscure to a club music trendsetter, the bag o’ tricks featuring  everything from hip hop to kuduro, baile funk, b’more, miami bass, surf rock, garage, bassline, dubstep, ghetto house and indigenous rhythms. Mix them all together and a set with Mu-Gen is a violent education, a foray into the foot zapping fun times of a hundred dancing cultures.

Feeding that penchant for party, Mu-Gen has made the sexy time with the likes of:
Public Enemy, A-trak, Tittsworth, NASA, Detboi, Dj Sega, Dave Nada, Nick Catchdubs, Edu K, Pase Rock, Top Billin, Benzi, CSS, Bonde de Role, Mix Master Mike, Scottie B, South Rakkas Crew, Rob Threezy, Foamo, The Gossip, The Vines, Grand Master Flash, Jungle Brothers, Dexter, The Avalanches, Dj Food, UNKLE, Wolfmother, Midnight Juggernauts, Digitalism, Roc Raider, De La Soul, Z-Trip, Blackalcious, Lateef, Kid Koala, Q-Bert and many many more……

In 2007, Mu-Gen was named “DJ Act of the Year” in the respected Inpress Magazine industry awards. Competing against the best DJs in the country, he also won the “Absolut 15 mix” event taking out both the state then national titles. He has since headlined to crowds of over 15,000 at Meredith Music Festival, Falls Festival and Big Day Out. He has also blown away audiences whilst touring most of Australia, Asia and New Zealand to reviews describing him as “the next big thing, the Diplo of the Southern Hemisphere”.

Teaming up with Scattermish in ‘07 the pair formed Slap & Dash, a live four deck show case of epic proportions that has seen them support the biggest names in the industry as well as headlining their own tours both around the country and internationally. Since this they have been busy in the studio producing remixes for the likes of Edu K, Killa Queenz, Bangers & Cash and also producing soon to be released originals featuring underground MC’s such as Spoek. Slap & Dash are on a mission to explore the boundaries of club music, presenting to crowds unknown artists and genres which will be seen on a much larger scale. 2010 will see them feature their new “wood sticks” mix on the prestigious Discobelle Mix-up series.
