Chicago club music is for some reason everywhere I look lately. It started with Gene Hunt’s excellent ‘Chicago Dance Tracks‘ comp, then friends were posting Dance Mania clips on facebook, now DJ Funk’s playing here in Melbourne next month and somehow I just know that it’s all gotta be connected. It’s great though, the raw drum machine driven sounds of the windy city during the 80s and 90s couldn’t be more relevant today. In case you need proof check this track ‘Knock Knock’ from DJ Funk’s debut EP released in 1994. I can easily imagine Oneman playing this alongside the latest from Night Slugs.
