Frik’n Good

The new EP from the Frikstailers is finally out and well, it’s off the hook. Just when I’d come to expect only neo-cumbia from this duo, they turn around and remind me just how versatile they really are (remember their Baile Frik ep?). There’s a whole bunch of influences at work on this release, but perhaps the one that surprised me the most was the strong nod towards hip hop. It was a long time ago that boom-bap lost its grip on my imagination but they somehow find a new angle and it works. I’m not giving away anything off this, just have faith and follow the buy link.

What I will give up though is a quick edit I did a while back. It’s a workin’ DJs thing that changes tempo during the breakdown for those moments where you need a quick switch up.
