Dubbel Dutching

Dubbel Dutch is a name that’s been popping up more and more in recent times. He has an individual sound and take on bass, party and fidgety music, which seems to be developing in every new track or remix that he does. Although i’ve been following his tracks, and blog, In Robots We Trust for quite a while, it was after he did a remix for Digital Manges that i really fell head over heals for his sound, and really took notice of his talents. His take on “Manges” is basically a really smart remix – but is so without losing anything in the party department. He’s used the original samples in a new way, cutting them up, changing them around and re-sampling them to delight. He’s re-interpreted the breakdown synth pattern with his own bit of wobble and done plenty more. The track vibes, and has been sending peeps wild whenever i drop it. You’ll have to check his myspace player for a preview of the song, as the release (also featuring supa remixes by Sharkslayer and JKamata and possibly a couple more) will be available thru palms out sounds soon…

So after hearing that, i just had to get onto him for a post of some tracks, and damn he brought the rain on exclusives and dopeness. First up you can’t look past this remix of PRGz, the ghetto drones and bounce in it are top. Totally a sound the Scatterblog is into in a big way at the moment. It’s hype, it’s heavy, it’s glitched and it’s gangsta, and it rolls with an updated feel of Miami Bass.

My other favorites from the bunch would have to be “Bass Power” which is his bootleg of the Raze track by the same name. The mix runs with the vocals and turns the track into a big room, bass rave stormer… “All i want is bass…”

Also this tasty little bootleg of Hostage’s Shake It, which again is another big bass flip. It gets nice and hectic with buzzing synths and bmore breaks, it’s own kind of drugyness.

2009 has seen Dubbel Dutch do a bunch of laptop battles and shows at that huge ol thing SXSW. For an example of a live set, check this link (tracklist in comments). He has remixes to look out for, for Campbell, Norrit, Lazy Bass, Robot Koch and Spin Laden (from Tejano Bounce, a Scatterblog favourite) to name a few. Also be sure to look out for some crazy rave-step, hyperbass releases by him, probably as white label. And he has his Trollsta EP coming out on Palms Out which will also kill…
He’s also doing In Robots We Trust Presents shows which look sick. Next one will have Hijack, Norrit and himself. The Scatterblog is gonna do a big arse tour of the U.S around Aug/Sep of this year, if all goes to plan look out for a robots x scatterblog party!
