The Mail Came Burning

I’m not really a fan of those posts which just chuck up all the mail a blogs got, but i had to do one. Mainly cause most of these things i’ve been sitting on for a bit, and haven’t found a post for them to fit into, or just haven’t got round to posting them, but they are some dope choons.

First one is a remix of that supa awesome group Bonde do Role, who released some EPs, singles, their first album, toured heaps (they almost got to oz), then broke up, ahh the kids of today with their Rock’n'Roll, Pacman video games and Hoola-Hoops. We all shead a tear and hope they reform as they once were (apparently Pedro and Gorky are staying together as the group, just no Marina, there’s also rumors they’ll reform however). Anyway, with that all aside, Smoke My Tobaco (if you’ve been reading the blog for a while, you may remember this post from aaagggess ago) have done a sick remix of their track Micose. I can’t say i’ve heard the original, but the remix is a dope bouncey, beatsy, baile funky dance tune. Good for getting the crowds arses to start shaking.

I got put onto Alias when i was checking out Paz playing one night. The track (“Shake That”- grab it at palms out) was dropped with class, and the beat was fine. I thought i’d seen a remix or something out of him before, that i liked, so was poised to find more. This track has some serious acid-style synthyness to it, which seems to be making a bit of a reflux into todays music. Most people making music now would have been able to hear some acid stuff when they were younger, either subconsciously or consciously, and it seems to be filtering it’s way into tracks. And in examples like this i’m not one to complain.
Alias is another part of what looks like a movement that is slowly but surely showing itself in the the form of Canadian heat (i’m not coining a term, i’m just stating there’s fire coming outta Canadia). There’s obviously a whole lotta different stuff coming outta the french and english regions, one thing’s for sure is that a lot of it from all over is not short of quality. I’ve got some mates over there at the moment that love the country, and the parties look ace.

I got this track ages ago from Congorock, and it got posted round a bit, so i figured i’d just let it sleep, but i’m still playing the track out, and still reckon it’s really cool, so it definately needed a post. BEWARE, this track is hard, it’s filled with bass and has an almost industrial hard trance kind of throughback- genres which aren’t my cup of tee, but this track isn’t one of those genres, it mearly has some feeling of them. Congorock seems to be doing it big, his tracks are getting played by some big players in the techno scene, and he’s got some inspirational friends (remember his first track he worked with Bloody Beetroots). Look out for his DJ sets and new tracks- also i got sent a remix of “Exodus” the other day by 3 Is A Crowd, (who will have their first official EP release soon with a scattermish remix on it!) so keep an eye open for that one.

Hijack manage to stand out somewhat in the jackin house world, with a pretty fidget house sound, and their own style that seperates them from the rest. There’s just something about them. They certainly have jack, they’ve got some sick basslines running throught there tracks too… i suppose that’s all i really need. Anyway check out their latest mix. Listen for their remix of Andy George’s Big Dipper (which was mentioned in Detboi’s Top 10 post) at 49:16, tis the dopeness! (you can also catch a listen to it in full at their myspace) This mix is really rad btw, runs through an arseload of tracks, but in style- you don’t feel like you’re being rushed through a DJs effort to impress you with how many tracks they can play.
